Some years ago, in North Berks League Division 4 championship play off game, the team I managed at the time lost the title after our keeper was adjudged to have handled outside the box from a clearance kick. The opposition scored from the free kick, which proved to be the winning goal.

Nothing wrong with a quick throw in from behind the advert boards (though I think rule changes make this illegal now)

Always like a quick goal keeper throw in too (Tony Bullock, East Stand side.nearest Ponty end.

Has the ball behind the head rule also been dropped? You see loads of throw ins these days where the thrower has his hands in front of his face before releasing the ball. Never gets flagged these days

At the moment of delivering the ball, the thrower must:
stand facing the field of play
have part of each foot on the touchline or on the ground outside the touchline

I do have to wonder why they keep changing rules like this which have little or no impact on the game. Yet refuse to seriously tackle the cheating and foul mouthing from the privileged yobs...

Does seem a bit pernickety. Might just be for the assistant referees - easier to see if the foot is completely over the line, rather than if a bit of the toe is touching the line.

As far as Cotter is concerned, I do think part of his foot was on the line for all his throws on Tuesday. I also think they were all very good throws. The rest of his game... he just doesn't look up to it to me. He has some pace and some skill, but the overall package is to the team's detriment imho, leaving us entirety exposed down the right when he plays. Unfortunately, O'Keefe isn't offering much of an improvement either, but he at least appears to be able to read the game and position himself accordingly, although he rarely does much of note.

Yes I commented on that at the time. It wasn’t the usual looping throw, hope someone gets a head on it. It was like a guided missile. Low trajectory. Travelling at speed and we scored. Expected to see more of that this season
