Worth a share as my own MP got to ask Michael Gove about the benefits of leaving the EU and he came across quite arrogant I thought.
but who are those "benefits" actually going to benefit? one point he made that I will pick out is that he stated that the money we pay to be in the EU we could use for things like the NHS however we make far more in trade by being in the EU than we give to the EU so doesn't that mean less money in the country and not more? Still haven't heard a "benefit" of leaving that actually benefits any of the people of the UK.....
To be fair to Sunak his area North Yorkshire is one of the safest to be in. Scarborough for example have an infection rate per hundred thousand that's half of what the current national average is. https://www.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=47574f7a6e454dc6a42c5f6912ed7076 Take the postcode YO11 1PB for the sea front there and have a look at the map. Some areas have no cases at all and the vast majority have very few. Then type in a Barnsley or Kirklees postcode and look at how much darker the map is because of far more cases. https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/cases 13972 cases yesterday and comparing the three regions.... Scarborough: 26/938 Barnsley: 86/3426 Kirklees: 164/6135
Richmond isn't Scarbough. In fact, looking at a map it is as near to Morecambe from the western edge as it is to Scarborough from the east (both are 28 miles). It covers a massive area (one of the largest in England) and has had arguably some of the worst MPs of the last 40 years - Leon Brittan (former Minster, Brexiteer who lives in France), William Hague and now Rishi the industry killer and one of the causes of the credit crunch. It is also very, very close at the north end to Middlesbrough (6 miles from Great Ayton), which is in Tier 2. Richmond is an affluent, rural, ultra-safe Tory seat, but for how much longer if Brexit affects farming as expected with MPs voting against the manifesto commitment to retain food standards. This is a brilliant link if you want to see constituency boundaries though. https://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/election-maps/gb/
Looked at the map and Richmond appears to be doing as well as Upton, South Kirkby and a few places closer to Barnsley. All those are tier 2. balance; they’re surrounded by darker areas whereas Richmond is surrounded by lighter areas. But in isolation, it’s noteworthy.
