Sounds like a wind up to me - especially when it gets to 'This isn’t Portsmouth V Cardiff anymore, or Premier League V Championship…this is England V Wales.' On one hand it is deploring anti-English behaviour, but on the other is suggests the remedy is to become nationalistic and confrontational. If this was a genuine account of a true experience, what the hell difference would the result of the Portsmouth/Cardiff final make? Probably written by some idiot from Portsmouth trying to get people behind them. The issue with football related violence and anti-social behaviour is that it has to be dealt with away from football - for those idiots who do go to matches looking for fights, the football doesn't matter, the results don't matter. That's why a number of Cardiff idiots weren't just content to win, but had to stand at the top of Wembley way as we left and chant anti-English abuse or make hand gestures etc - the football didn't do it for them, they were there for something else. If they'd lost they'd have been stood in exactly same place doing exactly the same things. This doesn't validate the previous post though - because we have our own 2% of idiots who would do the same. It's a problem for football, that the glorious game gets hijacked by the thug element up and down the country, and that there is a movement of people who try and create hostile factions and encourage conflicts. I was surprised by how confrontational the Cardiff fans were before and after (especially after - when I thought that they be content with the win) the game - I saw some bad behaviour, language etc - but I also saw our lads shouting 'sheep ********' etc and playing up to it. I think it's fair to say, it wasn't the experience we had at Wembley last time, and we ought to leave it at that. Cardiff have their problems to deal with, and we need to clean up our own back yard before we point the finger at anyone else. No football club is so pearly white that it can afford to be complaicent.
Another well put post which I agree with, I will remind though that we have moved on leaps and bounds and this is common knowledge throught the game to the level of all supporters groups and police forces. We don't think these idiots who attended are our hooligan element or indeed football fans, the small minority that felt it right to turn like they did are just ******* out on the piss and you are quite right, regardless of result they would of acted that way. Thank god we did win if thats how some people act when we do. I fully agree with what you have said.
you know thats a comedy tv shoe and not real dont you ? just thought I would check are there any gays in barnsley ? prehaps we could meet up and compare notes and wear dresses and knickers ? lots of love darling
I am devastated that someone who denies the facts of a situation despite these being given to her on a plate, is grumpy go and look after your cat love
It was just light years different from Ipswich 2000... when the camaraderie between the two sets of supporters was tremendous. I recall the Reds fans giving the Ipswich team standing ovation on the final whistle - 4-2 was fair enough and they had beaten us home and away in the league. I have friends who support Ipswich and they still talk about the good relationships between the two sets of fns that day. I find that the Cardiff fans have a kind of racist attitude towards the English and it is shown at its worst in your experience. It seems to be coupled with some kind of inferiority complex, which makes the racism yet more bitter. I am pleased to say that I avoided the sort of experiences you have described, although there did seem to be large numbers of Cardiff fans hanging around at the street corners, when the Ipswich fans of 2000 just moseyed on home. Some of these fans did look menacing and I was careful to remove all visible traces of red from my vehicle. Perhaps an all-seater stadium will help them. It will be interesting to see if the scenario is repeated at the final. I image that a similar crew will turn up and that the police will be ready for them. Maybe some police from Wales would cut down on the potential problems, or they might turn racist against the Met as well!!! Gosh! Me backing the Met!!! Now when did they last visit Yorkshire!! Oh! Yes!!
I dont feel inferior or have any sort of complex about the english in any way interesting name, mr evans, look now isnt it
Genuine apologies to you. And I can believe what you say about yourself. It is the mottley crew who give the other impression. Best of luck for the final!!
England and Wales Cricket Board mate that's why Glamorgan play in the county championship I know Scotland have started now as well but they do play as a whole country and that's a recent development
