He turned down Southampton, a day or two before 'the goal'.
I always liked his goal celebrations, the swaggering arm thing he did. And the way he shrugged off the set to he had with Gary Neville at Oakwell in the cup with Beckham sticking his beak in n'all.

Darren Barnard is an absolute legend at this club. He wasn't at fault for us not getting promoted back to the premier league, we simply weren't better than Ipswich that day, it was a strange season where we scored and conceeded for fun epitomised by a 4-2 PO final defeat, had Bassett not got shut of De Zeeuw we might not have needed to go to wembley, yet still we all have fond memories of both our only visit to the old Wembley and the epic play-off semi final tie with Birmingham.

Barnard was one of our best players at a time where Barnsley football was at it's peak, FACT!!!

The Wembley match was probably the tightest of the three. We were beaten fairly but that Richard Wright save from Hristov's point blank header was crucial. If that'd gone in I would have fancied us, because we were all over them at that stage.

I'm pretty sure at Oakwell they went 1-0 up, we kicked off, they took the ball straight off us and made it 2-0!

Barnards best Barnsley goal was against Spurs in the FA Cup during the premier league season. Left foot volley from the corner of the 18 yard box right in front of the ponty.

Great goal but not a patch on the goal against Huddersfield. Best goal I've seen live

We might not have won had he scored. Ever thought of that? You can't be that simplistic about it. Too much goes on in a footy match to be so. If you want to be simplistic about it, they still scored more even with the pen.

One thing this thread proves is what a

    d1ckhead Reev is.

I hope I get reported and banned from the BBS for abuse as a result of this post. It will get me out of the habit of coming on here and reading his boring *****.

I seriously cannot believe that a grown man has nothing better to do (with seemingly the majority of his time) than act like a lovely person on here.

    **** off you pr1ck.

You really all need to start ignoring him. He's obviously got nothing better to do than come on here and act like a tw@t, but as long as people engage with him the more he'll continue. If everybody shoved him on ignore and stopped responding to him he'll eventually go away.

WTF??? Barnard was the penalty taker all season and the only one he missed all through his career was that one.

Was a little young to remember but was a decent pen from what u recall, good connection with a good save?

    Barnard, you are a legend.....
