I disagree to an extent! The vilification he got at Bromsgrove was nothing short of disgraceful, but to me the dislike was because we knew what a good player he was and up to then he wasn't showing it for us. That was a turning point though for him and for us.
So he was a popular choice as a player and manager Must have gone to Oakwell with my eyes closed that season!
RE: So he was a popular choice as a player and manager I disagreed to "nobody liking him or wanting him" The 2nd half of that season people appreciated his performances, when he came I and many others thought it was a good signing, the problem was for the first half of the season his performances didn't match what we knew he was capable of.
RE: So he was a popular choice as a player and manager I think there was also a sense that Dennis was taking the cheap option by gambling on a promotion from player to manager... (which is true - Dennis had no idea how good Wilson was going to be and it really could have gone either way)
RE: So he was a popular choice as a manager! nt perhaps not universally popular - but that wasn't the comment
Some didn't like him because of his links with Wednesday It's back to the Chris Brunt thing - some say they don't want him because he's from Wednesday - people didn't want Wilson because he was from Wednesday and they didn't like that . That was your point!</p>
