Clause in Contracts

I believe some of our players have a clause in their contracts that guarantee them parity with the top wage at the club.

So if we signed Moore at £10,000 per week , all players having the clause would automatically go up to £10,000 a week.

 

which must be great when people come out and say "I'm the top earner at the club", everyone with a similar clause starts knocking on the door. I would hope that while it obviously happens in football (or is definitely claimed by players), our extra cautious approach to finances assures me that we're not stupid enough to have such a clause.

Otherwise we're kind of feckced on the 'improving the squad front....' if a number of our extended contracted players from last season or the season before have that clause.

If the rumours that have been flying around for a while are right

& that we are to sign Jamal Campbell-Ryce, just think of how much we'll make out of him in the club shop. Over 40 quid for a shirt & then 13 characters in his surname plus he'll have to wear a number of at least 2 digits. We'll be minted!
