RE: What a load of crap!!!!!!!!!! Our fans are already on a yellow card for a similar incident last season - so its a red card this time - fine, points deduction or closing of part of the ground.
I can't believe they were allowed back in the stand You can clearly see stewards pushing them back in when surely they should have been pulling them out and escorting them away.!
and upholding the law is upto the police So stewarding a game AND upholding the law is collectively down to both parties.
If the police aren't there to stop people breaking the law then exactly what are they there for? Because I know for a fact that the police have made decisions before at oakwell on such matters.

Massive difference between throwing coins and a few fans running on the field If fans were seen throwing coins, I wouldn't say ban them I'd say lock the b@stards up
RE: Is this message board a WOMEN only site ??? !!!!!!!! To me a real MAN you hold his hands up, say its a fair cop, I'll take my punishment and stop being a pain in the arse for the club and other fans. You are an apologist for bad behaviour. Don't talk to me about it being passion, I'm as passionate as the next man when it comes to football, but I can do all that on the stands.
RE: and upholding the law is upto the police Live in the real world with the rest of us. The Police are there as a tactical reserve in case of real trouble. I suggest you go study Tacitus or Sun Tsu.
Nudger is such a great fan that while the majority of us were inside oakwell getting behind the TARN in the last few minutes of the game giving mcindoe and co support, he was riding up and down grove street on a child's bike.
Says a lot about his level of support doesnt it

RE: Nudger is such a great fan............thank you Yes but while on the bike they could hear me in the West Stand shouting Tyke Army !!! (dancin)
RE: Nudger is such a great fan............thank you Sure they did Nudger, sure they did. Did they talk to you in your head too?
I would say that the club has a very strong defence Immediately before the start of the game on Saturday it was loudly and clearly announced over the tannoy that encroachment into the playing area was an offence, would be likely to culminate in an arrest, and that arrested spectators could expected to be banned from Oakwell.
The rest is down to stewarding - and with the best will in the world, if there is going to be a concerted pitch invasion by so many individuals, there is only so much can be done to physically contain it without causing injury and distress to innocent bystanders who become involved.
I think the deciding factor will be if the club can show that it took all reasonable steps to prevent firstly an invasion (which is a rare occurence), contained it in the best and most peaceful way possible, AND has taken steps to identify, prosecute and ban many of those involved. I am satisfied, from what I saw and heard that that was done.
Nobody can do any more.

i'll let you in on a secret, but keep it under your hat Those blokes in red shirts trying to win a game of football were at the other side of the pitch in front of the East Stand not sat in the West Stand so I doubt they heard you. They'll have only heard those that were actually inside the stadium.
the problem is That after the first time when the barrier was broken we cannot say that we made a reasonable effort to prevent it happening again can we? I mean surely a reasonable effort would have been to move an extra one or two stewards (or police officers) to that area to 'plug' the gap.
While they might not have been able to stop them if the fans had chose to run onto the pitch it would have at the very least made them think twice because they wouldnt have had a straight run through a big hole

Why criticise Barnsley Football Club? It is a criminal offence for spectators to enter the field of play. BFC have no option but to assist the FA and police in the investigation.
RE: the problem is Not everybody charged through the hole.
There are some nobheads, as we all know who follow Barnsley, they bring the club and the area into disrepute like so many other teams. You can spot them a mile away, many would be first timers looking for a ruck, but refuse them entry on that basis and people would be screaming victimisation and Police state.
We used to have barriers to prevent things like this, until their presence contributed to the deaths of spectators, so they had to come down. If you put barriers up to prevent pitch invasion, and they have to come down, then it must follow that pitch invasion is possible. Unless you have a sniper that shoots everybody who jumps over the barrier it cannot be prevented.
You can take "reasonable steps" which includes warnings, arrests, bannings, and a certain amount of physical presence, but you cannot completely eradicate it.

That's a fair point.. what surprised me is the stewards basically ushering them back to their seats in the East Stand Lower/Ponty. Whay did the stewards or the police not arrect or eject them?
Walsall V's Barnsley - playoffs achieved Whats the difference? Nobody was hurt, none of it was done to incite the scum fans, complete order was resumed almost straight away. A small number of fans ran 10 yards out of there seats onto the pitch for a whole 90 seconds, harmless! Fulham V's Chelsea last year???? Two coin throwing incidents this season? Bottle thrown at Frank Lampard? Southend on the pitch last night? Barnsley V's Liverpool in the premiership? Lets stamp down on the real problems, not the ones that are causing no harm to anybody what so ever!
RE: Walsall V's Barnsley - playoffs achieved The problem is that because we have not stamped down on it, it is becoming a ritual at Oakwell. Then, next thing you know a player is injured or assaulted.
