I keep banging on about it because he's right footed

and we're unbalanced down the left. he's the only one at the club that seems capable of playing there, and even when he is fit, he has a right footed player in front of him. In an ideal world, I'd like to see us get someone left footed who can play left back and/or left midfield. But one of the two positions at least, cos its a glaring issue for all to see.

mythical? I assure you that they do exist

In fact I have it straight from the mouth of an ex barnsley player that us trying to go through this season without a naturally left footed left back is madness and most definetly not the done thing

OK, So are you saying replace Kozluk?

If so - tell me who we can sign that:

    1. Guarantees to meet the same performances as Kozluk
    2. Is left footed.
    3. Will come to Barnsley
    4. Proven Championship experience and 25 games at Premiership level
    5. That we can afford
    6. That someone will sell us.

Kozluk does not get the credit he deserves for being a major influence on a defence that it vastly improved this year. For me, he was has much as loss as Moore when he was out.

I agree we lack adequate cover, but the same can be said about Colace, Anderson and JCR. And personally Im not sure we have the funds to 1. provide adequate cover and 2. get players for more pressing positions as well.

no he hasn't, every man and his dog knows we've bid for ward, all davey has done has expressed how highly he rates him and how he would lvoe him in the Barnsley set up. Hence making ward know that he would be welcome here and he's not going to be a bench warmer.

what sort of criteria is that?

"Proven Championship experience and 25 games at Premiership level"

And no i'm not saying replace him but we certainly shouldn't be relying on JUST him should we? Actually while Kozluk might be doing well at left back just think how good he'd be at right back where he is naturally able to play.

Kozluk at right back and a left footer at left back would be quite a good defence don't you think? Providing cover and competition on both sides instead of saying righto kozzy old lad, that position's yours, see you in may.

you'll find at Sheff utd and at Oakwell he's performed better at left back than at right back.

I support the players on the pitch ..............

......... not the man in the dugout, even if I don't always agree with the players that he has put on the pitch, and so do many others ....... so yes, you can put those statements together

If your being selective then of course you can put the two together.

However, if your supporting the team then Davey is the leader of that.

By your theory of selective support I am assuming that when we win its well done to the players and when we lose its Davey's fault?

Ive never known a board of people so selective in their support, praise and criticism such as this one. We are doing ok. We are a small club with realistic ambitions and as such the people in all apsects of roles at the club show this. FFS we could be Doncaster.

I think Kozluk is a good defender

and has done a great job defensively at left back, but we lack real width down the left, someone to overlap and get to the line and cross a ball with his left foot, someone who can deliver a set piece with his left foot and add some pace and aggression instead of having to play players out of position to fill in. And ideally someone over 5 foot nowt. in that sense, our squad is unbalanced.

In terms of who, given money restrictions, one name to consider, Kieran Gibbs at Arsenal on loan.

Look, I don't like the guy and don't believe in the guy .....

..... and think that eventually he will get us in the **** and he will be gone.

However, I have supported the team for 40+ years, regardless of who the manager is. I never boo the players, no matter how ***** they are or how ***** they have played and I keep going week in and week out and always will.

If you or anybody else on here don't like it, then fair enough, I don't give a **** to be honest, this game is all about opinions and I'll tell you mine and vice versa. Only time will tell who was right and who wasn't.

I said that at 09:51 mate, but the Davey lovers .....

........ prefer to slag you off for not getting behind them/him, rather than debate the point about why the policy of keeping things quiet has suddenly changed!

    Alby - fair enough mate.

I wasn't 'having a go' at you or anyone.

All I was saying, or at least trying to say, was that Simon Davey is in charge and for me, he's doing a pretty good job and trying his best to improve this Football club. We are a small club from a fairly small town (In comparison to the likes of Leeds/Sheffield Wednesday etc...) and at the moment, we are doing pretty good. £400,000 on any player is a big piece of business for Barnsley FC and credit to Simon, Patrick and the board for making it so.

6 years ago, we nearly didn't have a football team. And we were nearly sucked down into Division 3, with a last gasp, Isaiah Rankin goal saving us. To be where we are now, after that, is quite frankly, tremendous.

I'm not picking at your 'support' but surely, it's better to get behind Simon and the team, rather than knocking him. He's a shrewd man, and he knows what he's doing.

    COME ON YOU REDS!!!

The policy of keeping things quiet...

Is so other clubs aren't alerted to a player's availability.

A young striker that is top scorer in his league is in the final year of his contract, and no doubt his availability is common knowledge.

What about Rudi Skacel at Southampton?

He's experienced, can provide cover at both left back and left side midfield and is left footed. Southampton appear to be in financial difficulties, so there might be a possibilty that we could pick him up for under his true market value.
    Just a thought.
