I honestly dont see a problem I dont think they would be dismissed even if found guilty, so not a gross misconduct matter, so no suspension.
RE: I honestly dont see a problem Newcastle United fan been banned from all grounds for using racist language. Bit hypocritical to let footballers get away with it (if indeed they did).
RE: where did the newcastle fan spout his racist comments? nt In the ground, fans around him reported him. I know you're going to respond that the alleged assault took place away from Oakwell, but I still think it would be hypocritical to have people who had been found guilty of racist offences in a team that is supposedly anti-racism. If found guilty I don't think they should remain in the employment of BFC.
RE: where did the newcastle fan spout his racist comments? nt i agree that any player found guilty of racial assualt should be sacked (or at the very least, made to do a LOT of community service to promote the clubs image and given a very large fine) but I don't think that you can really compare the case of somebody who is banned from football grounds for a football related incident that actually happened inside the stadium with a case totally unrelated to football in any way shape or form
RE: where did the newcastle fan spout his racist comments? nt It's related to football simply by the fact that they are employees of a Championship football club.
RE: where did the newcastle fan spout his racist comments? nt Yes that is what I would expect any decent employee representative to argue, that the incident wasNOT football related. It might be a bit thin, if the employee concerned had anti racism in his accepted job decription ??
From my own contract of employment... anyone have similar? "In the event of serious or gross misconduct, an employee may be suspended on full basic pay while a full investigation is carried out. Such suspension does not imply guilt or blame and will be for as short a period as possible." "Certain types of conduct will entitle X to terminate the employee’s Contract of Employment without notice of termination or payment in lieu of notice. Examples will include: • Any breach of the criminal law"
Even if they were guilty I doubt they would be sacked. Cantona kicked a fan, El Haj Dioaf has gobbed on loads of people, that Valencia subpunched someone in the face, Zidane headbutted Materazzi. These were all assaults, not just abuse, that were just dealt with and the players carried on at their clubs.
That is just hypothetically assuming they were guilty by the way.

RE: From my own contract of employment... anyone have similar? 'Entitle' - so it's an option, not a foregone conclusion.
RE: Even if they were guilty I doubt they would be sacked. Two of the players have been arrested for assault. Unless I'm mistaken only Cantona's case was dealt with as a criminal offence. And he was suspended for nine months by Man Utd.
RE: From my own contract of employment... anyone have similar? No it's not. Just saying what would happen if I'd been involved in a similar incident. I'd be suspended while it was investigated and then face a disciplinary hearing at which I could be sacked without notice or compensation.
OK, Bowyer then. Leeds actually paid hundreds of thousands of pounds to defend him. Some trouble when they asked for it back when he left too I believe.
RE: OK, Bowyer then. Leeds actually paid hundreds of thousands Fair enough but he was cleared of GBH (and the courts felt it wasn't racially motivated). If the players are found guilty of racially motivated assault then they should be sacked.
RE: how did you make that jump? Because it's gross misconduct and I work in a public profession, in addition my employers and other invested bodies would attract serious negative publicity for it and stakeholders would call for my suspension pending an investigation.
RE: how did you make that jump? You can be suspended following an allegation of gross misconduct, while it's investigated.
RE: how did you make that jump? Yeah but just said 'it's gross misconduct'. What's 'it' exactly? We don't actually know that yet.
