I think the point is fairly clear though, whilst fitness and food standards such as dietry intake may well have improved and taken giant leaps forward and the technology within the club and some modern coaching methods have been introduced to enable a modern manager lead the team to do the business on the pitch. Our football on the pitch has not moved forwards at all, the technical ability doesn't seem to be as high as it has been in the past. We're just able to play poor football for longer periods without running out of breath.
Well if that's the case then I certainly don't blame Danny from leaving the way he did - probably felt betrayed by the board. From midfield that season didn't Redders outscore all the 'star' midfielders?
He had a cracking season. Got 10 goals. Redfearn (10) Ward (8) Fjortoft (6) Hristov (4) Tinkler (2) Bosancic (2) Barnard (2) Liddell (1) Jones (1) Hendrie (1) - that is the 37 goal we scored.
I know you think you know everything SM But sometimes its just a boat load of ****.
I believe he was an international manager in 2003-2004.
Anyways its load of **** anyway cos I think on this one I know far more than you.

Narrow minded idiots Before I start my rant, I’m not advocating the return of THE best management partnership that this club has EVER HAD. After reading through this thread and reading that DW & EW would take this club back years because they’re still stuck with the coaching tactics of bacon sarnies and head tennis or not up to date with the modern game beggars belief. I think you’ll find that all football league coaches have to move with the times and keep up to date with their coaching badges which includes all modern techniques that our Mr Davey has required. Think it’s time that some people on this board kept their comments to what they know best. ( FIFA 2006, FIFA 2007, FIFA 2008 and FIFA 2009 ) Can’t go back further than FIFA 2006 as I doubt their old enough to go that far back, or may-be their just narrow minded arse holes. Open your mind, it’s a big world out there. BTW PC will stand by Davey and give him the best chance possible of pulling it round, fact like or lump it.
You mean you need all the badges Davey has to succeed Like Ferguson and Rednapp has and all the other top Managers. Their badges were not on paper but pure experienced football knowledge and look where that got them (doh) (doh) (doh)
RE: You mean you need all the badges Davey has to succeed You got me wrong big time pal, everyone in the game nowadays has to have up to date coaching badges. Danny and Eric would have the same badges as Mr Davey, so not stuck in a time warp. Not to say that the whole thread is pie in the sky anyway.
RE: You mean you need all the badges Davey has to succeed BTW I'm not for or against Simon Davey, just want to see to club moving forward who ever is in charge.
I wish barnsley would sign up to that Yes Davey might have a fancy whiteboard that wilson/winstanley didn't, yes they might have a nice qualified diet expert and a top class facilities at their disposal but I know which team would win in a match between wilson's team with their sloppy diets, blackboard instead of white board and traiing by playing head tennis and simon davey's team using state of the art training 'methods'. which manager picked tactics that regularly won us games? Davey with his computers or wilson with his brains? which strike force looks more likely to score goals? Wikinson and the fat Barsteward john hendrie or odejayi and macken? Which midfield created goals? Redfearn, sheridan and co or diego fecking leon? and which manager signed a left back? Was it simon whiteboard davey with his dossier on every player that presumably doesn't include which foot they kick with? Or danny wilson who brought in some of the best left backs we've had at the club in a long time, Thompson and Barnard. You can claim that standards have improved as much as you like but the team that danny wilson built, playing the tactics that wilson played and using the training methods and lifestyle that wilson's team used would piss all over the team built by simon and his team of highly qualified 'experts'.

I really would like to argue with you, just because it's fun. But I don't think there is much of an argument that could contradict that.

RE: I know you think you know everything SM Id be surprised if you knew less. Wont change my opinion though, never go back, I've stuck my flag to the post, Davey is a decent manager, doesnt get every decision right, upsets people at times, but the thought of going back to where we were yonks ago, lets reminisce but on the old times but see it for what it is.
I'm not for second saying you shouldn't have an opinion I just think you were being a bit harsh on the old man!
