I think it would be wrong to assume that fitness wasn't important to Wilson/Winstanley, in their day. I was witness to a convesation between Wilson, Winstanley and Eaden, regarding reporting back early for closed season training. Mainly pointing out to Eaden the benefits he would gain from doing so voluntarily as apposed to been ordered to. During the same evening, I also witnessed Wilson pointing out to Gerry Taggart, that he was the most unprofessional, sportsman he had ever been unlucky enough to be in contact with, in all his professional career. Make no mistake, Wilson had his standards and I have no doubt he still does.

Don't you realise, that is exactly where Davey is going to take us, BACKWARDS.

 

Think you'll find that I'm right in the fact that they did go to school together and my info is from the man himself. As far as I'm told, they lost contact for a number of years but meet up again via the football club. Dave used to get a lot of the Barnsley school boys kits via Patrick's generosity before he took over the club.

Pat and Dave certainly knew one another before he bought the Club.</p>

Pat was at Wombwell High a few years behind me. I thought Dave went to Foulstone but I could be wrong about that.

I know Dave from when he was coaching local kids. He introduced me to the Coerver coaching method. I first meet him when we were on opposing sides in a parents match. He was a very tricky player.

When Doyle was the owner I met Dave when I was out shopping. He told me he was working for Pats football charity.</p>

This was at the time AFC Barnsley were formed and bank rolled by Pat.

As mentioned I wasn't cross examining him or making notes but what he was absolutely clear about was that the idea that Dave Hancock has some extraordinary influence at the club is ridiculous.

 

I think Mr Cryne would be a big fan of this stylish lady
