Me, too, old friend. Even when I didn't rate a manager (eg. McSeveney, Parkin), I wasn't stupid enough to think I knew more about the game than them.

That may well be true, mate. However, the likes of McSeveney & Parkin still know/knew more about the game than I do.:)

He changed the side that hadnt conceeded a goal in 5 games to fit John in and we conceeded - from the left back area where the cross came from if my memory serves me right. Its only because he didnt get international clearance that he didnt play the game before.

To drop Smith or any team member at that point during that run, unless they were struggling with injury, was just plain wrong imho. Going for that clean sheet again was like an extra man in defence and he broke it. We may have conceeded anyway with Smith but thats just where the tinkering started.

LJ is a contradiction when he says he didn't like playing centre halves and full back - this clearly only applies to the left back position as he persists in playing Holgate, a future centre half at right back when he has a physically much stronger right back in Williams. It is obvious to most that Holgate has been placed in the shop window so the owners can recoup some of their cash which is understandable; he will probably go in the summer for what £3 million?

I also agree with another point made elsewhere that we next season we should be playing our own signed and committed players and use the loan system for emergency cases; I'm sure George Smith is far more committed than John.

Every single point I agree with. Tinkering with a defence off the back of the best run of clean sheets in sixty years, not wanting to play a CB out of position on the left but willing to play a CB out of position on the right, Holgate will probably go to boost the summer budget and if we don't win saturday every loan should be sent back.

LJ stated when he signed Jabo that he likes two big forwards in his squad. He feels they can't do that job week in week out for 90 mins, so i presume he will exchange in or between games as he has done so far. He also said he wanted a big striker to make space for others not only score. Question i have is does he prefer a big striker over a busy smaller one al la Winnall? So far it appears he does but at Oldham he relied on Forte who isn't that type of player at all.
