Really? Do you honestly think that if the "incident" went to a jury they would clear him?? I'm fairly sure he'd stand no chance.
RE: Really? unfortunately, it wouldn't get to the point where a jury would make a decision on it for the reasons Manc Tyke gives.
I honestly cant see that I think the video evidence clearly shows the incident separate from sport. I believe had Hume decided to press charges he would have had a pretty good chance of success though the civil route will be far more beneficial to the player and/or club. Do you think its likely given BFC's statement a civil case is in the offing and what is the likely timescale if so?
i think he will take civil action mate. likely to wait to see the outcome of the injury as this would effect his loss. limitation period is 3 years so technically he has until then but i would expect movement in the next 6 months. A case can take a long time from start to finish, depends on so many different things it is difficult to say. i think the action will be hume v morgan/sheffield united (holding sheff u vicariously liable for their employee's actions) rather than BFC v Sheffield United Hume v Morgan is the most sfwd action. If Hume's career is ended (god forbid) then the level of damages will go into the hundreds of thousands. BFC v Sheff U, although possible would face significant hurdles like forseeability of loss and causation which could make it a toughie, but still not beyond the realms of possibility. We would have to establish our loss which may be difficult, although Cureton's wages for the duration of Hume's injury may be a realistic loss.
I don't know, of course.
But I've been reading and passing the signatures since it started, a high percentage of the signatures are Canadian nowand, if you made me put money on it, I'd say that's Iain's mum.
