What gets me is, there's all the fuss about the damage heading a football ( with the hardest part of the head) can cause to the brain, yet folk are happy to pay and watch two massive blokes pounding shot after shot at each others heads

I imagine the people and professionals who are raising awareness in football don't exactly advise boxing as a career.
I think the point in football is people didn't realise the risks from heading a ball as they are from accumulated trauma.
While boxing indeed shares the accumulated trauma issue, its always been know boxing is dangerous.

I get that, and btw I've nothing against heading a football , I did it most of my life, I just don't get why folk want to watch boxing where big blokes are asking to get hurt, I can appreciate get the lighter weights where there's more agility and skill

Probably because people find it fun. Some don’t, some do. Personally, I think boxing is boring up until it gets to heavyweights. I don’t want to watch someone clinch and run. I want to watch someone get knocked out - then recover well of course.

I much prefer UFC, what some people class a lot more brutal (However that is factually incorrect. No one in UFC has died from fight related injuries, boxing on the other hand still has deaths each year.) I believe you have to be more well rounded and/or skilled to succeed in MMA, instead of having one discipline/art than you need a skill set of a minimum 4 - (boxing, kick boxing, BJJ and wrestling).

I guess fighting will not be everyone’s cup of tea but there’s a reason why it’s been around forever, will be around forever and is only getting bigger - speaking on the UFC end there, boxing seems to have gone down the pan over the last few years due to gimmick/money fights over legacy fights. Although I must admit, I’d much prefer to get punched in the face for more money than less money if there are two offers on the table.
