We'd have got back up eventually. I'd have traded that for a major trophy.

RE: Thats by far the most disappointing of any

Don't know about that, we're only 1 relegation away from being able to get to the LDV final.

    Correct

Even tho I am "only" 31, if we get to an FA Cup final in my lifetime I'll consider myself very lucky. Chances are that match was my only chance.

RE: Penultimate home game of 1976/77 season against Exeter City

Three up and lost 4 - 3 wasn`t it? Think we were robbed of a point at Colchester week before aswell if memory serves me right.

First one was Barnard i think, Owen turned quickly but surely could have stayed on his feet and gone through on goal he decided to roll about on the floor, 2nd one was Morgan and Owen did all he could to get him sent off, that was never a red card in a million years. The last one was Ince who got Sheridon sent off, that was a bad bad day and ended up killing off our season.

The only game I have left before the end.

Convinced me that PHart had no idea.

    Yup, that's the one

Although, in all honesty, I can't remember the Colchester game.

    That one got me too

Felt like we'd blown our chance of getting back to the prem, and that a long decline was in store as a result.

Mind you, Ipswich did outplay us.

    "They don't want promotion"

Heard throughout that summer. After watching the utter capitulation during the match, it was quite difficult to argue against those 'in the know'.

    "clean through on goal"

the one where morgan got sent off, Owen was running towards the corner flag and he just fell over. digusting. Referee favouring the big club as usual. ask warnock.
