RE: Buying lower league players? 'x' is worth exactly fck all, and that's with pics of a saggy titted bird looking uncomfortable.
£150k for Hayes? £150,000 to land Hayes SOUTHEND United will have to stump up at least £150,000 to buy Barnsley's Paul Hayes. Barnsley will insist on at least recouping their original investment in the 23-year-old before selling. Hayes was bought from Scnuthorpe in the summer of 2005. A Football League tribunal fixed the transfer fee at £150,000. Scnuthorpe wanted £300,000. He is being offered a new deal at Oakwell but he was dropped from the first-team squad at the weekend. It was later revealed that Southend had tabled a chairman-to-chairman bid hours before last Tuesday's Barnsley v Southend FA Cup third -round replay. Southend made three offers in total. All have been dubbed 'derisory' by Barnsley. Barnsley manager Simon Davey said: "We had to play him against Southend because it was all hands to the pumps with so many players not available." He added: "Paul's mind was not right after they made their bid last week and it was in his best interests that he did not play at Luton." Essex-born Hayes was the subject of Southend interest in August when they made a £100,000 offer. He said then that he would like to move south. Barnsley are hoping to extend the loan deal for West Ham's Kyel Reid. Davey is in talks with the Premiership club aimed at keeping the 19-year-old for a third month. Barnsley's fifth-round FA Youth Cup ties against Birmingham City will be played at Oakwell on Wednesday January 31. Kick-off will be at 7pm.
£200k. MINIMUM Far better player than when we signed him, and don't we owe Scunny a bit from any sell on ? If he wants to take a step back just to be closer to home then there's little we can do. Although Davey's comments were a bit unnecessary imho.
If he's out of contract in the summer difficult position to be in. with Wright gone, Hayes possibly, I hope we have something 'brewing'.
Disco............ gave Bale such a torrid time that he was subbed at half time-similar to the Bradford match where they subbed the full back after 27 mins
it's just a pity he doesn't do it every game-but if he did he wouldn't be playing for us!

RE: If he's out of contract in the summer Michael Coulson by't looks.
Must be a contingency plan.

As he is under 24 so we would we not get a fee anyway? Would have thought we were entitled to a reasonable fee to reflect our "investment" under the current rules.
In all fairness ... ... Nardiello is stuffing my words down my throat. I think this must be his longest run of being match fit in his life. I fully expect his leg to fall off against QPR. More chance of that happening than him scoring.
RE: No, he's played for other clubs before us. nt he came through norwich's youth system, went to scunny for free, and wasn't at scunny that long. But we still had to pay a fair amount for him.
Poor lad. He'll look like Rumpelstiltskin soon. I wonder if he set himself a 30 goal target for this season too? Please find below the team that would keep us up: (1) Colgan (2) Hassell (3) Eckersley (4) Togwell (5) Kay (6) New centre half (7) Devaney (8) Howard (9) New centre forward (10) New centre forward (11) New left winger Bench: Lucas, Richards, K Reid, New midfielder, New defender Reserves: McCann, Mattis, Atkinson, Sold to Lincoln, Halifax or AFC Thurnscoe: P Reid, Austin, Nardiello, Williams, Tonge Six "Championship standard" players required. SM agrees with me. I have it in writing. Oh aye ... have that Gord.
it hasn't we would still get a fee at tribunal just less than if we had him from day 1 because as far as i am aware the tribunals take into account the amount the clubs invested in the player Hayes is worth at the very least £300k in my opinion i think we should quote a figure of £450,000
RE: it hasn't He was a league 2 striker when we signed him. He his now a championship striker who can play wide. I would say we have invested a fair amount in his development. And I agree, if we let him go for 150k we must be barmy.
