Just trying to picture a load of gay fans turning up, not liking football simply the one gay player. Maybe we could seat them all in the west stand, not used much now. 2 for 1 so one lad can bring his boyfriend and they can snog all the game. Gotta love that post from Nightmare - still chuckling now! For the record I wouldn't have a single problem having a gay player in our side.
Many football fans haven't grown out of 'hooliganism, racism, abusive behavior, and many more have resorted to abusing players and other fans on social mediums such as twitter. I don't think for one second that if a player came out as gay he'd be devoid from abuse from a minority, it's just how sad this world is. Over time, it could become more accepted, but why would any player come out as the 'first' in todays world, and stand the abuse. I also think the media don't help, they're pushing for someone to come out, just so they can report that someone has recieved abuse over it. It's the same as all of this nonsense about black football managers. For me, there's only a few black football managers because the chairmen of football clubs have just found someone better for the job, who just happens to be white, there's no conspiracy in it, it's the media which is trying to cause one. I can't think of anyone I know, who said they didn't want Paul Ince as our new manager because of the colour of his skin; a mate of mine, who's views are questionable sometimes to say the least, said he didn't want Paul Ince as manager because he's f**king clueless. It's a sad world we live in, but I feel the media is to blame, trying to cause conspiracy all of the time. And in response to your question, it wouldn't bother me in the slightest.
We could do with 11 homosexual players. Good at coming from behind. Btw, I couldn't care less about a footballers sexuality.
I agree that NIGHTMARE's post was pretty stupid and trolling is always a bit pathetic and annoying, but I feel that banning him for that is a bit over the top...
Yeah it seemed OTT banning him for saying something that the majority of us don't agree with. As daft as his comment was he's entitled to an opinion as much as anyone one else.
I'd welcome the pink pound as much as the next man. And I'm not suggesting segregation at all but the likelyhood is that the camp chaps would migrate to one section of a stand, which might bring a bit of colour to the eaststand upper. "Can you hear the East Stand Cooo-eeeeeeee.............."
wouldnt have aproblem either. everyones entitled to there own sexuality. im sure there are gay footballers out there, for all we know we may have one or more at oakwell. all i will say is JUST GET BEHIND EM YOUUUUUUUUUUUUU REDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDSSSSSSSSSS we have a hotel here in DC its called the Gaylord makes me chuckle everytime i see it.
It's not so much that someone might find it offensive that bothers me, it's the insinuation that gay people would act any differently in public than any one else. Why would it mean "loads of gays snogging", do we currently see loads of straight people snogging in the stands? No. It's like the comments such as "watch your backs" etc which basically implies that gay men are more likely to commit rape.
seeing as you brought it up,i think the 'watch your backs' comment would be more of a joke than anything else,I also think that if someone says it then they are implying rape is utter ******. I used to employ a gay lad and i'll give it to you 'straight',there was no one worse than him for teckin the pi55 out of both himself and other gays.
What amuses me most is the stereotypes people apply to gay people. Usually born out of their own insecurities. "I can't be gay cos I'm a big tough bloke and dunt mince abart". Aye, alright.
Aye, one of my best mates is gay (from Darton as it happens) and he thought the "does your boyfriend know your here" chant was hilarious. It was only the Brighton fans who took offence at it. Closeted maybe?
Probably get a few more bums on seats - so to speak. Certainly a few of the board old timers would be interested. Westie and Tuffers woud be all of a tizzy at the prospect. Get a touchline seat too.
I agree with free speech. Nightmare is a homaphopic pr*ck. There we are all sorted. Now back to the Ipswich match
Allegedly there's a referee that's supposedly gay tho I've yet to spot a ref telling a player to talk to the hand cos the face ain't listening, oh and for the record I couldn't care less what sexuality they are
How would other players react in the changing room to an openly gay player? Terry and Cole would probably smash them. In their own way. Allegedly.
Totally agree ark104. Chances are there is at least one gay player on the pitch at every football match. And whilst I think the majority of fans would be supportive I think it very likely that player would get a lot of abuse from the supporters of the opposing team and for that reason I think it advisable for gay players not to 'come out.'
Is this thread a reference to Luke Steele being one of the judges of Mr Gay UK last year? That doesn't mean he's gay, one of the other judges was Matthew Wolfenden from Emmerdale and he's not gay either.
