RE: He didn't others did I think he meant that for the rest of the time gay people may want to show public affection but feel unable to. They are there, but they have to act differently to how they want due to pressure from society. They have to blend in, become invisible.Things have certainly got better in recent years, but I bet there's not many gay couples who would risk holding hands down Wellington Street on Friday night. It's hard for us in the majority (white, heterosexual, which I think we both are) to understand what it's like to be in a minority, particularly in a society that until very recently was both racist and homophobic (and still is to a certain extent). Having a day to just feel normal and celebrate a particular lifestyle choice is no bad thing. I'm actually quite proud that my town will host such a thing as I know a few years ago such an event would be unthinkable. And as we're moving on, maybe now we can have some good restaurants too. It's long overdue.
I think it's great that we live in a society where minorities can have fun and a big day out celebrating their "difference" to the mainstream. Why not? Scooter Clubs, Real Ale Buffs, Traction Engine Rallies, Dwarf Throwing/Cheese Rolling Contests, it takes all sorts and what makes this country great. Tolerance and fun in England. Good on the Bumders and Carpet Munchers, hope they had a great time.
RE: He didn't others did I see what you mean. I come from Wakefield which is what about 8 miles away. I now live in Barnsley. You see lots of gay people out in Wakefield and there isn't a problem. I don't go out in Barnsley on a night so i don't know if you see gay couples holding hands etc and if so would this cause trouble. Strange to think so considering the towns close proximity. Then again Wakefield is bigger with alot more bars. As for the restaurants Barnsley needs a Mexican badly!
You certainly are I think you are mixing equality with celebration. The two aren't linked at all. It's perfectly fine to celebrate something and at the same time wish not to be discriminated against because of it. Or maybe you're misunderstanding the context of equality. Someone can be different (equal: "the same") but expect the same treatment (have equal rights).
In 10 years time it'll be the likes of you and me that are in the minority! Will you come on a Straight and proud to be english parade with me then?
I find it strange... ...that those who are so against it feel the need to add, 'I'm married with 2 kids'. Just to re-confirm to themselves that they are definately straight. If you want a march, organise one. I guarentee to you the 'queers' wouldn't give a ****.
Gutted I move away frump tarn and it all kicks off, BNP feighting with folk, gay pride marches. All that time I lived on my own and not a sniff of gay pride. Mostly. Live & let live anyone ?
Just checking through our squad list for a player who I don't like so I can stick the boot in cos Robins didn't pick him/sub him/made a comment on Radio Sheff that I can take as he's getting rid.

Live and let live? Likely. I'm a bit uncomfortable replying to you Dirk, you know James G is watching my every move and thinks I'm trying to be you. PS - those who thought MR would be playing a free-flowing brand of 4-4-2 look like they're going to be disappointed. But he said summat on radio so he's going to be class.
Lol. Everybody wants to be me, especially James.
Robbo (as I now call him) said the right things from what I heard, hope he's allowed to back them up with actions. I think he sent a side to watford to not lose rather than win - hey ho. If they don't want to play for him, then they have to go.

Agree 100% I was shot down in the Summer when I said Davey was barmy not to accept the money for ADS from Bristol City. Not looking so daft now. My guess is him and Colace will be on the first plane back to warmer climates if we get an offer. He came across well and will, fingers crossed, get the support Davey had in the next two transfer windows. But it all depends what division we're in next year.....
Nothing wrong with that in the slightest - it's exactly what we've been crying out for the past couple of years. Anyway, can we get back to talking about bummers?
Brilliant I'll tek mi booits darn to Derby. I'll cover every blade of grass on the pitch............................................... by lying down!
