I don't have to take modern exams to evaluate their effectiveness

I just have to look at some of the drivel turned out by youngsters entering employment these days.</p>

The educational standard of kids entering the world of work is way below what it used to be.</p>

My step daughter got exactly the same question for part of her GCSE history course work as I got for my O' Level history exam. The difference was she got 2 weeks to answer it, plagiarizing various internet sources in the process and got a second bite of the cherry to get it right after it was marked. I had about half an hour within a 2 hour exam.

I am pleased that people's prospects aren't ruined by their nerves on one bad day any more. I also agree with spreading the evaluation of their performance. However it should be in the shape of mini exams done throughout the 2 years under supervision.

That's true

I believe the 1993 A-levels were considered the most difficult ever.

That's my story anyway. Oh that and having the rude awakening that people had learned stuff in other schools. I think that's where White Cross went wrong.

 

RE: Pretend qualifications.

But that is for 25% of the grade. I had to do 3 other tests for French, Speaking, Listening and Reading. For the speaking we had to learn 60 answers to questions that could be asked, all at least 5 or 6 lines long. That's not easy when you're under pressure. I'd like to see some people do that.

 

It gets on my t*ts when people say some exams are getting easier. When i took my GCSE's i got 9 B's and 2 C's, then i went on to do A level's and in my AS's i got an E and 3 U's. The 2nd year i started again and got a C, D, E and a U. Just got my results last week and got a C and 2 D's, and they were f***ing hard to get, towed my b*ll*cks off for 3 years just to go to uni, which will cost me £3145 a year, i hope by the end of it all, it isnt worth nothing because i'll have spend like a 5th of my life learning and spending over £9000 for sweet F A. Hope to get a decent, well paid job by the end of it.

 

Which uni you off to next month mate?
