The jury's out with me. Whilst it is indeed an improvement that we haven't sold any of our better players no-one knows whether any of the ones we've signed are any use yet.

I am concerned about central midfield though, we do have a lack of experience in that position that other teams may wise up to and try to exploit as a weakness. Whilst there is always the option to move Styles into the centre, most of his experience is from playing LWB so i'm not sure how successful that would be.

We have a player in Gomez on loan because us as Barnsley FC could never afford him as he is a level above , we need to enjoy watching this lad play for a season.

At the minute we don't know if he's been brought in as a regular starter, cover, to adapt to a new system. We've seen some snippets of kids football where granted, he's done some impressive things. But we don't know if he can cut it against seasoned pros. Neither do Man City, hence why they've shipped him out to see.

It's also very different being in an elite environment to one of lesser skill. Thats no dig at our players, but they aren't walking into the Man City squad.

I think Schopp wanted knowhow. This kid may have it. He may not. But we'll find out over the coming months. And the really positive thing, it further cements the style change to doing something with the ball when we have it.

To be honest I havn"t read what Whitey has put or what he has said , I responded only to your comment to me but what ever Whitey has said is usually sensible

 

He made the point that no-one knows how much we paid for Kane because it was undisclosed. Same applies to all our transfers over the last several years as far as I know.

 

Kane played for the 23s last week when they lost 7 0.
I didn't observe but was made aware he didn't endear himself to a great degree.
Head coach must have had some input into his future this season.
Mowatt made the same loan, here's hoping he comes back much improved.
