Let’s not forget, Parliament supported the action. In fact, there were more dissenters/opposition’ from within Labour than the Tory’s.
I have defended Tony Blair in exactly no way in that post. YOU said Blair and Bush killed more Muslims than Hussain and Gaddaffi combined. These quoted sources show how widely inaccurate that assertion was. You’ve since dialled it down to say they killed many in an illegal war… saying the un have stated it was illegal. Kofi Annan certainly asserted this - yet the UN when consulting with the international court of justice didn’t pursue any kind of action. Why do you think that is? The war was unfounded, in my view. Pretty unjustified. I don’t disagree with you. But suggesting Tony Blair, for all his faults - I’m no fan and certainly not a defender of his - is as culpable for the deaths of innocent Muslims in the Middle East as the tyrannical regimes of Saddam Hussain and Muamar Gaddafi is frankly ridiculous. I’d also point out that there was vocal opposition from within the Labour Party to that war - but that the mob on the other side of the house pretty unanimously supported it. I can still remember Iain Duncan Smith, their leader at that point, at the despatch box practically cheering blair on giving his whole hearted support. Don’t rewrite history and don’t suggest I’m absolving Blair of any blame in this matter.
