The only striker I'd seen who was as powerful as David at such a young age was Norman Whiteside. David was an utter joy to watch. It was heartbreaking to see the lad leave and, as we'd already lost Ian Walsh & Gordon Owen, we went into the 1986/87 season without our regular front line. Needless to say, we lost the first six matches.
Always seems to be the way with us ,somebody outstanding comes our way when we absolutely skint and on the verge ,Tommy Taylor springs to mind , maybe it's divine intervention from the Rev.?
