    So it seems that the Ponty End will be singing "There's only one Tsuneyasu Miyamoto!" as the 43 year old makes the switch from Panasonic owned J-League side Gamba Osaka. As a player he scored 21 goals for Red Bull Salzberg. Hmm... now you see the connection.

    Barnsley FC are delighted to announce Mick McDermott as manager on a three year contract.

    Mick leaves Glentoran with an outstanding win percentage of 58 percent and brings a wealth of international experience to Barnsley, including spells as assistant manager of Colombia and Iran.

    He is also no stranger to North American football beginning his coaching career with the Conneticut Wolves before spells with the Quinnipiac Bobcats and Oregon State Beavers.

    Barnsley Chief Executive Dane Murphy said
    "I've been aware of Mick since his early days with the Beavers and have been keeping a close eye on him during his time in the Middle East. I'm confident he brings the experience we need to bring this young side to the next level"

    "Naturally, the club has taken steps to secure it's own future by including a release clause in Mick's contract and we can confirm that a number of clubs have already expressed an interest. We will not stand in Mick's way if he wants to consider other opportunities"
