    You're right on both counts.

    Just looked it up and he wasn't picked for the South Africa World Cup squads in 98 or 2002, despite being a regular pick for them at the time.

    Whilst that’s true, who would you have him in the eleven instead of? Where would he play?

    On current form, 13 points from 6 games, I think we need to trust CHs judgement.

    He doesn’t make my eleven currently to be fair. Both Bland and Yoganathan are in front of him for central midfield places alongside Connell; he doesn’t get in over Phillips. In fact I reckon he’s behind Kelly in the queue too. For me he only starts when Phillips isn’t available. Too many better options for the slightly deeper positions.

    Russell doesn't belong in a slightly deeper position. His talents are best utilised further up the pitch, in an attacking role. He could be a good option to bring on when McGoldrick is tiring. I see him as a potential top half Championship player in a "number ten" role.
