Should be a cracking second half then!

Not sure how. France should’ve had 3 or 4 in that first half.

The Mbappe love-in is a bit cringe from the Beeb. France have failed to score so far in the tourney. It took an own goal to win Germany.

Agree, the header he missed in the first half was met with a comment straight after about him being a world class player, which he is of course. Compare it to the reaction to Stones’s miss yesterday, which at least hit bar and not well wide.

To be fair, the reaction to Stones came from Roy Keane, who's never going to say anything decent about a City player. Also, that was ITV!

I know I could be considered biased in this view, but Stones hit the woodwork, and people are having ago when he should have scored. That may be correct, but I don't see people (or as many people) having a go at the strikers for managing one shot on target in 90 odd minutes. Just grinds my gears that if a defender does something wrong, it's all his fault and an attacking player does the same thing, and it's OK.

There's a few. 2 played each other yesterday - Portugal and Germany - who are streets ahead of England.

Hungary ambition cost them in the end, sending men forward for a free kick ,France long ball goal wtf!

And yet they’ve both lost a game, whereas England - regardless of justified (in my eyes) criticism - have not. And registered two clean sheets.

You're surely not suggesting that England are better than 3 teams in Group F surely, just because they've not lost a game yet!

Not sure how much of a marker that is. Clean sheets are definitely a positive though.

    I haven’t suggested anything.

You suggested Portugal and Germany are great teams. That they’re streets ahead of England. I merely pointed out the facts. Those great teams have already lost a game. And, in that same group, France could only draw with Hungary.

We’ve beaten the World Cup finalists and drawn with a team (Scotland) that I’d put in the same bracket as a Poland (who Spain couldn’t beat) or indeed, a Hungary.

There isn’t - in my opinion - a great, standout side this time. I think Italy look decent, and I always support them after England, but let’s see how they do against a similar side. In fact, I’m intrigued to see them against the Welsh today. And whilst Belgium look the strongest on paper, their defence is easy to get at and pace will kill it.

The Dutch are my dark horses.

    It’s a fascinating tournament. I’m enjoying it.

England are good enough with the right selection and more direct approach (not long balls, but getting the ball forward faster) to beat anyone. In my opinion.

Despite Germany’s impressive result yesterday I think we have a better squad than them. They’re a side in decline, the feeling in Germany is that they would struggle badly. Performances pre euros aswell suggests they’re no where near the side they were a couple of years ago.

Fair enough. I know which football I'd rather watch though and it isn't England. It's too laboured, too pedestrian. Not likely to take a risk to win a game. Maybe it's a plan to avoid winning the group and not play a team in Group F, I don't know. If it is, it isn't a great tactic to go into games. I agree, the tournament is wide open, but to suggest England are 2nd favourites is way wide of the mark.

Having a better squad (in your opinion) is no good if you're continually and consistently playing it along the back 4, especially against a team ranked 44th in the world.

Widely regarded we have a better squad. I do agree with you though, for me Rice needs swapping for Henderson. I don’t like the 2 sitting deep midfielders what so ever. I understand playing two against the France’s of the world but not the Scots. 1 holding midfielder for me and I’d be tempted to swap Phillips for Bellingham.
