RE: there are plenty of jobs that earn less than 19k

Yes there are plenty of jobs that get less than £19k a year….but when you consider the life and death situation that nurses work in every day then they are woefully underpaid. I'm not arguing whether other people are underpaid or not.

P.S. It was footballers who started this

so it's not about others having a go at footballers.

Probably just a means to start to get a wider campaign running.

I had thought this might get made into a sticky but not much point having seen the majority of responses.

    RE: Human resource administrators?

Exactly, they are so crap they even had to change their name from 'Personnel' to 'Human Resources'. Waste of space, I'm afraid. I'd advise any company to replace their entire Human Resources dept. with one Secretary (part-time), save themselves a fortune and everyone else would be a damn sight happier.

    Thanks,

so do I, getting a bit fed up of being in pain.

I shouldn't complain there are many people worse (more ill) than me.

RE: Depends on how you define "nurse"

It never ceases to amaze me how firemen/women get such a hard time. Perhaps we should employ arsonists to burn down buildings just to give the lazy eejits something to do? FFS.

Exactly how much would you pay to have someone to risk his or her own life to enter a burning building to save one of your loved ones? Care to put a price on their life?

If they saved someone you loved would you think, they are still overpaid or would you be glad his/her experience, dedication and bravery were rewarded suitably?

People willing to do that job (like nurses) aren't ten a penny, takes a special kind of person to do it and they should be rewarded handsomly.

    RE: Human resource administrators?

also how many 'institutes and associations do we need ? Joe Bloggs president of the 'institute of rare duck egg imports'.</p>

In my day there were doctors, nurses, solictors, accountants etc... who all had their professional bodies.. now they seem to be created just to justify their own existence.</p>

There are too many 'assessors, admin, health and safety, standard setters' and not enough do'ers.</p>

We employ modern apprentices... the amount of red tape and utter B*ll*cks we have to put up with is beyond belief.</p>

One of the youngsters had had to do a project on the effect of the introduction of a paper tray to the ergonomics on her desk !! This person has very good GCSE results and is training to be an accountant. Some one has to come out and 'monitor' her performance on printing out a piece of paper... it's ludicrous.</p>

Risk assessments, young persons risk assessment, fire risk assessment, Control of hazzardous substances assessment... and you'd better write it down in triplicate !!! We have a decent modern office not some 'dark satanic mill'.</p>

I'm sorry to go off on one I'm just becoming the modern version of the old bloke in the pub who went on about 'it weren't like that in my day'</p>

    RE: Thanks,

Complain all you like, I think you have cause to - and there are plenty people less ill than you are who complain a lot more than you do

Just a point about footballers, the ones with the highest wages pay a high level of taxes. What they are doing is very noble and is a good thing.</p>

My major point is about the manipulation of the taxes system in this country by people who are able to avoid paying millions of pounds of tax by structuring their affairs. </p>

One of the leading businessmen in the country was paid a billion pound dividend, now I don't know whether that was an american billion &pound;2m or a british one &pound;1,000m. Tax paid ? nil as the shares are in his wife's name and she lives in monaco.</p>

Fair ? you decide but it doesn't make the headlines like a footballers salary.</p>

It would be a US Billion, as that is what used in financial reporting.
