Watching Best, all I see is a waife of a guy who would not be strong enough For the modern game He has legs like match sticks and is not quick off the mark People rave about him and I just cant see it Although saying that I cant see what all the fuss is about Elvis and Sinatra but there you go But Best would struggle to get in a Premeiership side if he was still playing today Too light weight I saw Best when he was at Fulham in his later playing days but have seen lots of footage of him on tele There were better players that were more entertaining than Best I'll start with Marsh and Currie And foreign players yer can make a reight list Platini - Marradona - Cruff - etc etc
RE: There'll be no tears here when he goes. Hey, but you didn't see him play. I did. He was awesome and no, Rooney, Law and Charlton were and aren't anywhere near as good enough to lace his boots. He was awesome. He's made mistakes and in a way has contributed to his own demise or will have done so............ Yet, he has never bleated about second chances or wanted sympathy. Alcohoism is a disease. It is very difficult to overcome it. This Board makes me utterly sick these days. Usual little mini gods spouting rubbish who think their views are important. This board is crap and hardly warrants reading these days. Best has done wrong but seeks no sympathy from anyone and at the end of the day you sad little criticisers are the losers because you never had the awesome privelige of seeing this genius play. You sad sods. Hope you get more sympathy when ypu are on your last legs.
RE: Watching Best, all I see is a waife of a guy who would not be strong enough Total and utter rubbish.
Its still an addiction regardless whos bits he has in him. Great footballer, but a weak man who cant control his addiction. simple as. he's gonna pay the ultimate for it but NO-ONE deserves to be wished dead for christ sake for summat they obviously cant control.
Dare say I won't shed a tear, but will be sad at the passing of a great footballer, who, in his prime, brought great pleasure to thousands (probably millions) of football followers everywhere. Forgive me for not moralising about his illness, or his wasted talent, all I remember is a sublime player, genuinely two footed who could pass the ball on a proverbial sixpence, and who had superb control, balance and pace. He could also get up for the aerial challenges and head the ball too. Never showed any fear on the pitch and always appeared to have the attitude of wanting to let his 'boots do the talking'.
RE: neutrino No, I didn't actually say that. I said I wouldn't be sorry when he died, and mocked the prospect of it happening, but nowhere did I say that I WANTED him to die.
RE: neutrino "The comments are made because Best has brought it on himself and deserves no sympathy whatsoever. Hurry up, George. Great footballer or not, you won't be missed - you ungrateful, profligate tvvat. Bye." so you saying "hurry Up" is not wanting him dead! my mistake
RE: There'll be no tears here when he goes. You're missing the point. The fact he was a great footballer is irrelevant. Would a great fireman or policeman get the same attention? Would they hell.
We'll have to endure him scoring 6 against was it Northampton I mean.......NORTHAMPTON !!! AAArrrrrrr lass could score 6 goals against Northampton In fact I've just shouted down stairs to her and asked her and she says she would have scored more than 6 but she was substituted at half time Do we ever see Best shooting from 30 yards against a reight team and knocking the back of the net out.....NO !! we don't All we see of him, is him skipping past clogger Harris and the like who had spent Friday neet int boozer downing a gallon of ale Don't follow the sheep.......look with independent eyes He may have been the first footballer with long hair and a beard but that didn't make him ultra special By the way......I hope the guy gets better and I wish him well
If any of my family got a second chance at life..... .. I'd make bloody sure they did'nt waste it. Best had one hell of a kick up the backside, and I'm sorry, there's no-one to blame but him. His ex-and his sone, Callum warned him. Did he listen?
RE: Dare say I won't shed a tear, Well said and I think perhaps the phrase "there for the grace of god go I" is apt. He did not have the support that superstars get nowadays, he was a boozer and a womaniser, but not so much of a twit like some of todays superstars.
what about his staring performance in benfica 5-1 previously unbeaten in europe at home. knock the guys lifestyle by all means, hes the first to admit to that. But dont question the talent he had. Its sad that by 25 he had lost interest and didnt use his talent to its potential. but undenyalby best was the talent of his generation.
