Thought Vic and Chappers were a bit sluggish at times toneet so we put fresh legs on up front and they both looked even slower.

Shows how well drilled the other forwards are in the press. Dike nowhere near up to speed on that aspect and we looked less effective without the ball once he entered the fray.

    Exceptionally poor debut though. Midoesque.

    Early days, much to learn.

I concluded the same thing. It showed up how hard Chaplin and Adeboyejo had worked alongside Woodrow in the press. Dike looked slow and lost by comparison when he came on, and Frieser was also ineffective.

However, I never intended to judge him tonight against Chelsea's defence on a pudding of a pitch. He needs time to settle and (literally) get upto speed.

The kid had next to no service and still offered more than Chaplin he’s obviously going to take time to get up to speed but give the lad a chance he was up against premiership players tonight.

tbf we've only got him for 3 months. I worry how long it will take him to get up to speed. he looked a million miles off. genuinely not judging him. knew nowt about him before he joined and no real expectations.

Not really hopeful on this one any more... looked unfit and not ready for the press.

I thought the extra time after the derby postponement would have helped him. But I suspect coaching in the US is way behind Europe, will be moderately interesting to see how Struber does.

I wish him well, but I’ve had a feeling from his showreel that he’s more likely to be recalled than be a sensation.

Hopefully he looks at his first cameo and realises he’s loads to learn and throws himself into doing just that.

Obviously, I hope he turns out to be a superstar. But his signing seems to me to be simply another example of the triumph of hope over expectation. He has little or no track record, which is unsurprising given he is only 20 years old. The fact that he’s got to settle into another country, in a league he has no experience in, and a style of play that is reasonably unique even here, has tempered my enthusiasm (although I do accept that many other people seem to be really excited by his signing). But let’s see. We certainly need more quality up front so let’s hope he provides part of the answer, and I’ll happily eat humble pie if he does prosper here.

Still hopeful, but I know what you mean.

He was not an improvement on what went before, which is a bit worrying.

Dike got into it towards the end, he's a big unit who looks at home with his head down running at Centre halves. Start him next game, and let Woodrow play the 10 position. Freiser likes to take a pressing role on the deepest placed full back, pinning the line deeper (a valuable and tough task lost by quite a few fans on here). Dikes could cause mayhem in the box, he's got a bit of Bruce about him. Would also allow Styles and Callum to unbalance teams when going wide.

Again craziest signing I think we have made in a while here. Comes from a standard of football well below what he’s expected to play in here. Only here short term and looks a million miles off the pace.

I think some people got excited because of that ridiculous 20m USD release clause that was reported.

He was on for 30 mins against a back line worth at current estimations over 150 million. He's been here 2 mins and you call him rubbish? You're giving the massives a run for their money with that comment.

Wowwww. I’m not sure if this is serious or not?

Half an hour against a top premier league side after travelling halfway across the world to a different league/style or play.

    Bizarre.

Apologies I agree you didn't say rubbish, but there's a lot of negativity towards a young lad who's first outing is against a top 5 back line.
I'm going out on a limb here and I'm certain this lad will make us better. He's got attributes which centres halves hate, once got a sniff of the ball his movement was very sharp and a yard or more quicker. He's one of those lumbering big lads who you think only has physicality to his game. There were 3 misplaced passes to him, each one if played into feet he'd have been one on one.

I think he’ll do ok. Hardly had a touch but what he did do was encouraging.

Firstly got at his marker and had his shot deflected.

Second time outmuscled the defender and smashed a shot over the bar from the angle but was offside anyway.

I think he’s going to be a handful

He did make me think of the giant NFL player the refrigerator!
Which is neat, because we can now play the fridge and the freiser as an up front pairing!!!

I wanted to shout "come on, pull your finger out", but since he's a Dike, it's "come on, put your finger in". Ahem.

I thought the comments that were over excited about him playing here were ridiculous but most of these comments are even worse.
One extreme to the other lol.
