Nobody begrudges genuinely incapacitated people the right to disability benefit ... mind you that's a benefit that's beenthe focus of the government for the level of abuse it's getting</p>

Rich people don't cost the country anything they pay their way. People who make money out of employing others benefit society full stop. If they choose to do some tax planning by playing within the rules and structuring things to get the best deal, then there's nnthing wrong with it ... as long as they don't avoid tax by breaking the law.</p>

Incapacity Benefits that's another one , a very good friend of mine was thrown of that Benefit this year for god knows what reason....In 1992 him and me was involved in a very bad car accident, the result been he was Hospitalised for several weeks, and on a life support machine for three of them weeks. he suffered Partial brain damage (Hospitals report) and had several plates fitted in his skull, the consequences of that been that he suffers from epileptic fits and tends to ramble on about owt and nowt , also the guy cant walk right good as it also damaged both his legs....To cut the tale short, the Medical people threw him off Incapacity, he appealed the decision and got no joy from that procedure, same as lost the appeal, but the Disability he is getting stayed the same, as they say he is unfit for work! (genuinely the guy is) hows that work then? one Department says hes fit for work and the other says he int, fecking weird....

But the point is...that is not as visible in everyday life

My daughter wants a big trampoline and enclosure in the garden. We tell her it costs too much and we can't afford it, but when we go through council estates it seems that every back garden has one.

When she then asks again why she can't have one she then gets confused with the answer of 'because unfortunately Daddy has a job!'.

I think the so called spongers this thread started off about are the ones who manage to live a lifestyle we'd all like, and sometimes better then the lifestyle of people who work, while sitting on their ass and taking the benefits when there is no reason they can't get out and earn a living.

I did NOT say that dole bludgers are OK. People should have a realisation that we all have a right to work but also an obligation to work for the greater good. But when that greater good making more and more money for the people who you find it acceptable that they avoid paying tax, that's the more fecked up element of the argument in my opinion.

How nice of the roch peopel to let us work for them and allow them to accumulate more excess capital. So what if a recession comes around every 11 to 15 years that drives millions into poverty? They will still be OK and I'd bet you'd defend their right to be OK too.

 

Nowt to do with you. I work hard enough to have a few minutes on here trying to educate the masses.

yes I agree! But they still have a long way to go to be honest. I'm not sure I like the new town centre. They have built a new shopping centre that looks 'modern' but in my opinion ugly. What seems to be happening is that shops already in Liverpool centre are leaving their current sites to move there. Leaving lots of large empty shops.
