Lower League football interests me far more than the Premier. Just a money game now and, as predicted by several folk years ago, a handful of teams have the monopoly.
Made my day when Leicester won the Premier, but unfortunately i feel it will be a rare occurrence for any other club of similar stature to lift the trophy

And then we find that Stendel ‘dived’ in the tunnel just to put the tin lid on it all!

A term that should only ever be applied to a player coming up with a novel way to fool a defender, like the Cruyff turn for example.

Horrible club and hated the fact that they were even allowed to compete in the premiership

They built a new stadium and moved into it in the summer of 2002, and then a couple of months later, the club went into administration with £30million of debts. Hard-working people lost out massively. The company which built the stadium was forced to just forget about the final payment of £5.5m. The East Midlands Ambulance Service was left with a shortfall of £16,000.
They resumed trading under a different name and managed to get most of the debt written off
I believe points deduction was brought in after this to stop any other clubs doing the same

They also breached FFP rules in 2013/2014 and ended up paying 3.1 million to end the dispute

The romance of Leicester's title win makes this kind of story easier to forget.

Yes, action replays, var & cameras covering every inch of play these days certainly expose & highlight the cheats, I repeat that it has always gone on but the fact that we are discussing it now in this thread shows that cheats are getting exposed

It's not so much the use of the word 'winning' when it comes to diving that I can't stand, but the term 'simulation'.

Where in any Thesaurus do you see the word 'simulation' listed as a synonym under the word 'cheating'? FFS! on post match half time program discussion like MOTD they should call it what it is .Many sports Snooker,Golf, etc. have greater integrity and on may occasions have 'owned' up to a foul play and certainly not argued with official decisions. Rugby Union is an example that football authorities should adopt, where the referee's word is final. No objecting, no crowding the ref to protest. In football that should be an instant booking. In addition, any suspect dive should be referred to VAR and, if proven, no yellow card but instant red. I know VAR is not available in every match or in lower divisions but if you start at the top and work down players/managers will ultimately get the message. Pundits should not be afraid to call it what it is.
