Ok I thought the gig was 2010 the same year I was made redundant. Reverent and the Makers and Kasabian were the support. You are correct Redarmy the gig was July 12, 2009. Long time ago and my memory is shot to pieces after covid.
I wouldn't want to see Oasis reform, and I agree on Noel. I saw them in Sheffield in 2002 and it was amazing. But they had their time.
Surprised you didn’t go with The Boss mate. Then again, he wouldn’t need to shift anywhere near that amount of tickets, at £500 a pop
I had to check but I had 2009 in my head. I don't have the best memory but I definitely have selective memory, and I remember random things like that, particularly when it comes to music.
I kept reading that regarding ticket prices mate, I actually paid £85 for ours and folk we were talking to around us had paid £75 for theirs…I think initially ticketmaster we’re doing what ticketmaster does best by cocking everything up with there dynamic pricing, you’ll always get the idiots though that jump in and pay stupid prices then complain about it.
Blondie today too chaps! Saw them at Scarborough thursday, how the **** is she 77, still a great live act.
Saw the pretenders in their heyday in Sheffield fantastic, her voice his still as good as i ever they were fantastic.
The hardcore fan will treat it like an holiday by going for a week to watch every day. With staying just at Glastonbury their fans around the world would have no choice but to travel there to see them. Nostalgia and a few good support acts.
I was at both nights. Dave Trohl was at one show to say hello & expecting as usual, to be invited up to play. Basically he wasn’t, as Tommy joked about it later. Needy fcker. I can imagine his nose was well put out, after they had done an American leg of the tour with Billie Joe of Green Day, actually in the band. Plaid suit n’all. Fun fact- Josh Friese, drummer in the briefly reformed Replacements, is now turning out for the Food Fighters. Rock n roll, y’all..
Just finished watching Astley Smiths act and have to say it was surprisingly good. Would never imagined he was capable of that.
No. They genuinely are ‘massive’. Or could be. If they reformed they could sell as many tickets as they wanted I reckon.
I wasn’t - I just argued that he definitely is still relevant in the music industry and that he is right that Alex Turner has morphed into a bit of a knob… Liam Gallagher was always a cap end of the highest order. I agree completely. His persona in contrast to his brother was a big part of the attraction for some I guess. If anything he’s more mellow and less of a dick these days but I suspect if oasis did reform and started selling out venues his old self would soon reappear.
I reckon if you buy a High Flying Birds Cd and a Beady Eye/ Liam Gallagher cd and play them on a multi deck on random you've reformed Oasis and it's as if they never split.
Only Watched a few bands up to now. Working down the list. Foo fighters Wallfare Guns n Rose's Pretenders Capaldi. Big shout for Rick Astley wasnt a fan as such in his early days. But his latest stuff which he neglected to play is top notch. Did enjoy his set though. Seen quite a few bands highlights that I might take a look at. Christine and the Queens. Watched a couple of songs up to now. Off the set list and she is fully dressed lol. Add Manics. Maneskin Rick Astley and the Blossoms (not a Morrissey fan that helped)
I saw them in Sheffield at about that time, presumably the same gig, and again at the city of Manchester stadium in 05. They were great. If they reformed I’d be front of the (virtual) queue for tickets. Had their time? You could say the same about many a band still chugging out tours and making plenty from it; and they are certainly a lot better than a lot of those. If they made a new album, it probably wouldn’t do so well. But they could tour round the world for as long as they wanted I reckon. There’s kids who weren’t alive when they were at their peak who idolise them. There were also plenty of kids at the stone roses gigs the other year who were born maybe ten years after their peak.
Always thought this! Just sound exactly the same! Liam’s alright, saw his doc on Netflix, seems down to earth & knows his roots still. Noel on the other hand…… ignorant tosspot, one of the most opinionated pieces of **** In music today!
