You are probably right about the pub Funnily enough the pub was called the Miners in Dodworth, although it was also called the Dodworth Arms and I can't remember which at that time. I'm sure there were many union officials who worked hard for their cause and I saw first hand the hardship felt by miners, both during the strike and in the aftermath from which Barnsley has only just recovered. It is just that my experience was mainly of thuggery and violence. I was threatened myself several times by aggressive louts just because I tried to find out more facts about the issues involved. That's why I stopped going in the pub. While at work the miners systematically removed our wooden fence for fuel for their picket line. We called the police several times - they refused to turn out saying it would inflame things. We were advised by the miners themselves not to call them again otherwise we might find that our factory would mysteriously burn down. This was opposite the old Dodworth pit near the railway station. The miners were hard done by but unfortunately I had the misfortune to see the other side, as you did with the police. Please don't think I am against miners - they played a massive part (and maybe still can) in our history. I am just against violence, that's all.
Chuckle brothers to be his main advisers, Boris, the second most powerfull man in the land, behind the Prime minister, the world has gone fecking mad.
RE: And get a beating as you seem to be suggesting nt I think that they would be too shocked and stunned to give you a beating after listening to the unbelievable drivel that comes out of your mouth
Here we go, it's finally coming out.
Your experiences with a handful of bullies mean all miners are "picketers and men who drop concrete from motorway bridges" and you hate them, hate them, hate them.
You should get some help with that. Seriously.

Anyway.... How did I get sucked into this? Don't like getting involved usually. There are arguments on both sides I'm sure but like Windy says we should not forget it whatever your point of view, provided all those involved learn from it. Anyway I'm going back to spouting crap now nice bank holiday week-end everybody
RE: And get a beating as you seem to be suggesting nt
It's unlikely they'd knock any sense into him.Sounds like, in his case, it has theopposite effect.

RE: And get a beating as you seem to be suggesting nt Yes probably right there. What he's said is so off it's making me wonder if he's a wind up or simply not right in head
