    I can confirm this as I was working at the club at the time. I was still in the club office, about to make my way to the terrace when it went in. Vs Crystal Palace maybe?

    Viv Anderson on the opening day of the season as player manager. Unfortunately not the winner as West Brom (?) equalised late on, though I still maintain it never crossed the line and we should have won 1-0. (Booze, dodgy eye sight, being at the opposite end of the ground shall all be ignored in this belief)

    Ian Ormond, November 1968, in a 1-3 away defeat at Northampton Town.
    Eddie Loyden, 1-0 Boxing Day win over Shrewsbury Town 1968. We had just signed him from Shrewsbury, too. He scored from the penalty spot.
    Mick Butler, early 1973, in a 1-2 home defeat to Bradford City.
    John Pickering, August 1974, 1-0 home win against Exeter City on the opening day of the 1974/75 season.
    Phil Sanderson, November 1974, in a 1-3 defeat away at Shrewsbury Town.
    Glyn Riley, April 1975, a 1-0 home victory over Swansea City.

    I've got it in my head that Biggins (a glancing header I think) scored away at Leicester in a 2-1 loss. Was that the season after (he didn't get many goals in his second season before being shipped to Celtic as we got Payton in) or have I completely misremembered?

    Haha, don't be so harsh on yourself. I find I can remember things from earlier years than I can later. Particularly the Machin/Wilson eras when I was in my formative teens at first. I can't recall much of any detail at all between Hendrie and Hill (though thats probably a good thing in the most part!)
