    No such luck

I even managed to miss the Dolphins' TD as Mrs Burgundy Red chose exactly that second to call me to tell me that she didn't have time to talk . . .

    Disapointing Game.........

but closer than we thought it would be. Loved the Giants being booed for running down the clock :D :D :D The pitch took a beating that will take some sorting for our Croatia match in three weeks.

Why did they have a game at Wembley then??? Are they trying to promote it in England???

    Promoting outside the US.

They've agreed to stage up to 2 regular season games a year outside the US - with the places most interested in staging them being the UK, Germany, Canada and Mexico.

They had a game in Mexico a couple of years ago and got 110,000 spectators.

The Wembley game could have sold out 5 times over, and it wasn't just novelty value. It has a "cult" following here, many UK based fans have seen games in the US, one of the reasons for selecting Miami is they are one of the most popular teams in the UK with people chosing to go on holiday to Florida, but there were replica shirts there of every team.

They are trying to get one for next year. May be at least every other year.

I wouldn't have minded going but couldn't get a ticket and as it was actually 2 teams I dislike it wasn't that much of a big deal - I've been to a couple of games in the US anyway.

I can see why people wouldn't like it, particular if they were to just see it not knowing the basic rules, but what gets me is why people feel the need to criticise, as you say - each to their own.

I once tried to watch it but it looks too puffy for me, is there really any need for helmets, shoulder pad etc. and its too stop start.

Well, to avoid serious injury. Why should it be "puffy" to try to prevent serious injuries? The hits are harder than in rugby due to the nature/style of the tackles....and the helmets were introduced when President Roosevelt, I think, ordered it due to the number of head injuries being sustained other wise the game would have been banned.

Martin Johnson, the rugby union player, is a big fan, in fact he used to play, it's interesting hearing his comments about it....there is actually a lot of mutual respect between rugby and NFL pros.
He did a programme for Sky last year when he went over there, he could barely run in the gear.

They just can't cope with Reggie!

The Saints offense looks more like last season, mixing up the plays, the double reverse was superb even if it didn't gain yards.

The Patriots game is a blow out as well - La Dent will be having quite a time over there....and then to a bar for the Red Sox game no doubt!

Did you watch any of the Total Access on Sky or the clips on NFL.com - great seeing how the game was being reported back in the States. Some cringing moments with the stereotypical image of the British wheeled out in much the same was as people here do about the US.

They were outside Stamford Bridge yesterday and managed to find a few morons talking about how opposition fans would get knifed!

I think they were genuinely surprised though of all the different NFL shirts and how the fans were so knowledgeable of the sport.

...the commentator said it on the BBC re-run. Spooky. Well not really.
