With almost certain probability there is not, and with even greater certainty any such being is unlikely to ever be as perverse as the "gods" of mainstream religions. I personally do not need any belief in one to live a happy and fulfilled life. I do not need any religion to have a moral sense of what is right or wrong. We, and all our offspring and their subsequent progeny will amount to nothing but dust when we pass away and when eventually the sun, which itself will ultimately perish, vapourises the entire beautiful planet on which we are so lucky to pass our transient existance. This does not mean that our lives are not meaningless though in the vastness of the universe as we understand it we are all truly insignicant. Live your life as best you can and enjoy the magnificence which evolution has produced. Marvel at the fortuitous miracle of our lives and our fleeting place in time that has allowed us to understand the very nature of the universe. Educate yourselves. Sithi.
I didn't belittle anyone did I? Yes belief is a powerful thing, but so is logic. Logic tells me that the big religions were useful tools used by the ruling classes to subjugate the illiterate and ignorant masses of people in the middle ages and in the process made the establishment rich and powerful. In the world in which we now live there should be no place for all this mumbo-jumbo. Spirituality and living a life which does not harm others is absolutely great, but the rest of it simply serves to maintain the power of the establishment and should be consigned to the rubbish bin of history.
Re: With almost certain probability there is not, If it's not "bang on" it'll definitely evolve into it. Spartacus ends the argument as far as I'm concerned, I wish we had up arrows sometimes.
Anyone who believes in a god and inparticular that the earth is only 6000 years old in this day and age is an idiot. An ignorant one at that.
