Goes with saying you should put a complaint in, let us know how you get on because they can't be allowed to make judgements on people on a whim like that.

I'm going to email Ben Mansford and find out the correct course of action. I'll definitely be at Chesterfield now. Absolutely gutted about what happened yesterday and missing the game. It was disgusting.

It's possible you were not far in front of us in the queue. If not, almost exactly the same happened to another 4 lads. Saw them having a do with the stewards then talking to the police who appeared to be on their side but didn't seem to be able to do anything about it.

I almost broke my arm on the sodding turnstile. Much smaller than I had accounted for so when I pushed forward it came round and smacked me on the arm.

If it was the first turnstyle at the petrol station end of the stand it was most likely us that you saw. We are all still absolutely gutted about what happened and missing a brilliant occasion.

I go to as many games as I can afford and which I medically am able to thank you (around 10 home games and 1 away a season). I know you did the right thing leaving with him, I would of course have done the same, it's just this post made it sound as if they refused all of the tickets. I know it all boils down to the same thing and I'm not really sure what my point actually was. Sorry.

Sorry to hear about that Mike, I know I'd be furious if it happened to me and it'd ruin my whole weekend. I hope that you get some compensation or something but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I think you are probably fecked. The horrible horrible vile club that is SUFC employ a steward who made a decision which although mightily unfair is not going to change.

Id have gone straight around the there box office/reception and kicked up a fuss so big they'd still be listening to it now.

I think your best bet is writing a formal letter of complaint to the SUFC chief exec, keep it to facts not opinion and copy it to Ben at barnsley, hope there is a gesture of goodwill from us as i would expect jack ***** form them lot of tw*ts

Is about right for that **** hole.

I got binned out last time at half time for singing... With kidney punches thrown in from the steward helping me out.

I walked past the turnstiles with the long queues to ones where there were about four people. Why do people join long queues ? Why doesn't someone ( eg police ) sort this put to avoid the extra stresses ?
Being female I didn't get searched ( sexist and inconsistent ), just a quick half-hearted look in my bag.

it always amazes me posts like this, why exactly was he refused entry ? if he could not manage to gain entry to the **** hole because they have automatic turnstyles did he ask for help? why would he let them tear up his ticket ? did he go and complain to the box office? did you all club together and buy another ticket? my 14 year lad managed along with 3 thousand more fans to get through the gates, the stewards inside apart from not telling everyone downstairs that you could sit anywhere i thought were pretty good (leaves a sour taste in my mouth to say that) fella in front of me was drinking beer all second half, there is a reason you don,t gain entry to a football ground, having watched the Reds all over the country for 40 years i have never been refused entry , or any of my mates or my family, my opinion just saying

Erm, that's the point. Have you read the posts?

He approached the turnstyle. Was searched. Permitted to go through. Couldn't immediately work the ticket scanner. The steward immediately pulled him out, tore up his ticket and then decided he was drunk (which he wasn't). He didn't let him tear it up. It was snatched from his hand. Two Police officers verified that he wasn't drunk, but could do nothing to intervene.

I'm 37 years old. I've been watching the reds since I was 11. I've never been refused entry to a ground. That's not to say others haven't (unjustly) just because it's never happened to me. It's a somewhat myopic view to judge the reality of another person's situation based on your own subjective experiences alone.

Buying another ticket would have made no difference as he had been refused entry. I asked to see the stand supervisor who basically told me that he didn't have time to deal with me (ironic seeing as that what stewards are paid for - to deal with people).

It amazes me that you think it's OK for stewards to allow fans to ignore allocated seating and to let fans drink beer in the stands but cast aspersions on someone who is a victim of poor stewarding (which happens every week to fans somewhere).

You don't have to believe anything that's written here, but think logically for a moment and let's apply Occam's Razor to this situation.

I could either A) be telling you the facts of the situation and have a genuine grievance, or B) my friend did something wrong and deserved to be treated in the way he was, yet I still decide to go to the lengths of not attending the match myself (friendship/solidarity/not leaving a friend outside an unfriendly football ground on derby day) and posting at some length on the BBS about a completely fabricated situation.

    You decide.

I find it hard to believe that in 40 years of going to football you haven't witnessed any incident where a steward has been heavy handed and totally out of order. At Blackpool a few years ago an old bloke ,in his late 70's, was man handled out of the queue to get in because he had a flask, it nearly caused a riot.
