    RE: hmm.......

i think burnsy would have been on a good wage. OK he was a good player and his experience would have been useful but he was coming to the end of his contract and could have probably demanded a decent wage in the summer with experience in higher leagues and having a good season under his belt.

I still think it was slightly mad to sell him at that point in the season for what could have only been a measly fee but he obviously had enough faith in howard and on last weeks display, i have to agree with him.

    surely it largely depends on..............

whether and when PC asks for the repayment of the loans-at the moment if he did we'd fold immediately

RE: Either somebody got their figures wrong or something has changed

can you remember when some "hidden costs" were unearthed. maybe these are why we need £400,000 a month the break even

    RE: hmm.......

On the burns front, he said burns was insistant that he wanted to go, as the only chance of him going to the world cup was to be in the equivelant of the championship or higher. Therefore he was bound to leave. Don't think money really came into it, he just tried to chance his arm, see what he could get offered, as silly money can change minds

I don't mean we should have resigned him, just that we should have had him see his contract out rather than destabilise the squad at the most crucial point in the season.

    Thats right

Burns Agent set the deal up
There was a lot said about Agents
e.g. 2 phone calls from an Agent can cost £30K
The Agent involved was the same guy who got £2 million for the Leeds to Liverpool transfer of....Kewell
Burns wanted to go and at the last minute tried to get more money from Gordon to stay
Another point is....don't try to read between the lines because you will get it wrong
And don't tell lies about Gordon Shephard...cos it will cost you. And it has cost someone on here

    Just a thought..............

....given that our stated aim was to build a side for a promotion push next season I wonder if, for some reason, it wouldn't suit us to be promoted just now.

    only if...............

the team are all on a big wedge if we go up ?? or the promise of higher wages-but surely we would get bigger gates in the Championship-Leeds Wednesday Birmingham Sunderland Portsmouth Hull Wolves Southamptonetc

    RE: it's just that...................

The night was publised in the same way as every other night they havr down there, such as Richie, Ridsdale, Allan Clarke, Brendan Ingle etc.

They advertise it in the club itself and then word of mouth in the village. They are fundraisers for the cricket club, rather than a football club event. Therefore if you go in the club, you'd have known about it months back

It would be mate, was good to get info from the horses mouth, so to speak.

Thing is, they didn't organise this, theres a kid at DCC that is cheeky and manages to get folk down. Could be worth a try asking though, that or trying it at another club/ venue in the town

Only thing he said was that, there are 34 acres of prime land at Oakwell and the ownership between the council and Cryne was set-up in the past to stop anyone taking over the club and letting the club fold in order to make lots of money out of the land, he didn't name names who would have done this!

    We'll lose £3.5m this year?

I thought that Shep had done better than Ridsdale's targets?

Sort of proves that this loyalty thing is of Ritchie's doing then...

and not influenced by someone not wanting to spend money.

Oh and Mr Shepherd. I've said it beofre and will do so again. Rumoiurs, however wils are part and parcel of football. Live with it.
