Should have had 6 and probably would have had 6 if we would have signed a striker like any normal club and would have been flying but now all momentum lost and 3 losses on the bounce. Make or break for our season on Saturday against Burton at home
It just doesn’t make sense. They win four in a row, are full of confidence and look like world beaters. I genuinely thought they’d finally turned a corner after those results. Now it’s back to looking like a team closer to relegation.
you thought tonight's performance was acceptable? I'm not talking about losing 2-1 I don't care if we lose but that was just garbage, if that's doing OK at your job wow
There’s a third possibility. A lot just aren’t good enough. The number of times we give the ball away under little pressure all over the park is beyond belief. The league is piss poor but teams are far better organised, more physical, more motivated and in many cases just have better players with smaller budgets. We’re just badly run….
Total opposite imo - the reason he made the tackle was he was trying to step up, to set an example and to dominate Kone. And there's no way he should have been sent off, he shouldn't even have been booked.
Overall I think he’s doing a decent job with what he’s got, he clearly needs reinforcements. I didn’t think he was the second coming after the 4 wins in a row and I don’t think he’s a bad manager now. Plus the last thing we need is another position to recruit.
I thought we were really bad today. But this idea that means we are going to be a league 2 team at any point soon seems a bit extreme. also Wycombe are second in the league. I wouldn’t expect we go there and dominate. Surely a judgement on how good a job you’re doing needs to be more holistic? Today it was fine margins. If Phillips scores (which he should) then it’s a different conversation.
Before the season started I thought 10th would be acceptable so I'm not unduly surprised at our current standing. We have too many players on our books who aren't good enough. Take Dallas as an example - been with us for nearly 2 years and played just 4 games and now back at Oakwell because Barrow don't rate him. For a club with no money we take too many gambles when it comes to recruitment. The lack of progression from the U18s through to the U21s and breaking in to the 1st team is also concerning.
I agree! The issue is the title of the thread is Goodbye Mr Clarke which is stupid and not conducive to actual reasonable discussion.
I broadly agree about how our form makes no sense. But losing to the team second in the league away from home with 10 men in injury time having missed the best chance of the game (I get we were generally ****) isn’t looking like a team closer to relegation surely? We’re now ninth not nineteenth.
I saw it differently bud. In my view, the problem was the same as so often recently - that we are so woefully short up that whenever we tried to pass it out we couldn't retain possession and it came straight back/ So we started to play longer to try and get in behind them, or at least turn them and ease the pressure a bit. Obviously, neither worked. But if we'd had Kone and Udoh up front it would've been a different game. We are woefully, laughably short up front and to be honest I respect Clarke for keeping a lid on his frustration rather than speaking openly. He knows it, we know it, the Board know it. Our ability to do something about within budget must be a big problem or we'd have someone through the door already. We're playing for the playoffs rather than top 2 but if we don't get someone in I fear we may miss out on top 6 too. Irrespective, Clarke did say it'd take 2/3 windows to change the side and I think he's right.
You can’t blame Clarke he’s working with what he’s got and doing a decent job. It’s like asking an F1 driver to swap their car for a ford fiesta but still get on podium
Problem was the game that got called off gave Mr Clarke more time on the training pitch and the chance to knock the confidence right back out of them which to be fair he's done bloody well.
Or we were fortunate to win four on the bounce and have been unfortunate to lose the three so it all evens itself out? We're a relatively average league one squad and it shows. We're not gonna get promoted and we'll be nowhere near bottom half either. Just all a bit meh.
Yeah what a great example Robbo he didn’t even manage to take Kone out of the game and he had the last laugh scoring the winner.
From where I was mate the ref had no other option at all but to send him off. Was stupid and the lad was going nowhere. I haven’t seen a replay and was at the other end of the pitch to us so I didn’t have the best view. But initially was a red I thought.
