If you have people on ignore and you make statements like all wrong so far couldn`t that be misleading if you aren`t seeing all answers.

Just a thought, thats if I am not on your ignore list.

He was a sub when we played Ipswich away and then his home debut was against Sunderland*

*According to Brian Dennis' "The Definite Barnsley FC" :)

Don't worry. My ignore list tends to cover people who finish their e-mails with 'hope that helps' and the like!

But all are definitely wrong so far.

Has anybody said derby county or blackburn rovers?

Last 2 home games before he made his debut at Ipswich..

perhaps he was paraded on the pitch as our great new signing?

Bostonwayne goes to the top of the class! It was actually England Under 18s, but it was against Scotland, on 30 March 1985. Just goes to show that being an England schoolboy doesn't necessarily lead to a successful senior career. A quick look through the other names in the two line ups and none jump out as having had successful careers, unlike the previous England U18 international at Oakwell a couple of years earlier, featuring John Beresford and Kevin Keen in the line up.

Incidentally, there is a bit about the Barnsley schoolboys in the programme for this game and they list a few squads. There are no future BFC players in any of the line ups, but there is a certain future Barnsley cricketer in the U14 team - Darren Gough.

Also in the programme it gives the teams for the half-time 6 a side U11s schools cup final and 3rd/4th place play off. The latter game, between Holy Cross and Hunningley, has Geoff Horsfield lining up for Holy Cross. So the only future Premiership player on the pitch for the U18 international was actually playing for Holy Cross under-11s!

I'll set another question in the morning and the next one is a cracker, but for now Bostonwayne leads the BFC statto table!
