five years ago we were in administration... ... also when GS took over we were £5m in debt, in the seasons since the debt has been reduced significantly. He's worked well with PC and provided a front for the partnership which PC didn't want to be.
Best of luck Gordon I'm not going to suddenly pretend I didn't have any issues with you, because I did, but I think you did a very good job as chairman of the football club I love. Thank you very much for that.
He has done a cracking job and has played a part in getting our club back where it belongs. All the best for the future Shep.
The debt has not been reduced significantly The losses, year on year, have been reduced to the point where I believe we made a small profit last year, although I haven't seen the figures. But the debt has not been reduced. I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I think it's an important point to make.
RE: you people outside of football? Anyone got a copy of the message about someone being outside of football?
I'l take another look at the accounts for the past few years and get back to you... I have to admit it's been a while since I looked at them.
I seem to remember net assets improving but I can't confirm.

Thank you Mr Shepherd!! Every Barnsley supporter owes you a debt of gratitude. You have steadied the Barnsley ship through the turbulent waters. You should be very proud. Thanks. I think Mr Shepherd should be given the freedom of the borough.
Heartfelt thanks to Mr Shepherd from the children and me. I dread to think where the club would be now without him!
To be fair....
...(and I've been an unfaircritic at times) he's madeexceptional progress in his time at the helm and I take my hat off to him.

Agreed and same here, i've been an unfair critic at times but I think (the majority of) the work that he has done in the time he's been here has been excellent. I think that his biggest failing has been his approach to and handling of the media but behind the scenes the progress he has made has been like windy said, exceptional. Unfortunatly he was occasionally let down by some of his staff which made him look bad through no fault of his own. On the whole he's done a grand job.
I've taken a look and Jay is correct (apologies to Jay) the net indebtedness was as follows:
Years ended 31st May
2004 £3.6m
2005 £4.9m
2006 £5.1m
2007 ????? not been filed at companies house and are overdue by 16 days.
The rate of loss has decreased significantly from 1.3m in 05 to 200k in 06... if profits are made in future years then the club will move towards a positive balance sheet.
Still think GS is to be highly commended in respect of the financial management of the club.
