RE: I've taken a look and Jay is correct (apologies to Jay)
Help us out here D. The rate of loss = the increase in indebtedness so we're using credit to cover it and presumably the rest is balancing out at zero? If that's the case, and we've turned the corner into profit, then do you think it's right to assume we'll start using the annual profits to decrease the debt and work towards being debt free? Sorry if I'm talking twaddle, I had a brief spell at an accountants in my teens but I couldn't concentrate due to the typing pool girls sexually harrassing me.

RE:All the best Gordon Sheperd Has done a grand job since taking over and managed to steady the ship.
Well done Gordon

Massive thanks and best wishes Gordon Nothing short of a miracle, from the brink of Administration to Wembley and a much brighter future. Who'd have thought it possible. You've left your mark on the landscape of Barnsley FC, cant thank you enough, all Barnsley fans owe you a massive debt of gratitude for what you've done, a thankless task at times that its been. Im sure you'll miss those midnight phone calls and faxes from agents on Thursday transfer window evenings. All the best. Steve
I seem to remember that Cryne..... ....always said that he never wanted an active role in the running of the club though?
That for Gordon ? Or your fans ?
Well done Mr Shep, I didn't agree with everything you said/did, but given your internet customer base at least, nowt's ever good enough so enjoy your retirement and let's see how the new incumbent shapes up.

Thanks Gordon I may not have always agreed with some of your policies, however you did what you thought best for our club and I cant fault you for that. Happy Retirement.
all Barnsley fans should be thankful to Gordon just remember administration and then consider us now...financially secure and buying good players
Big thank you to Gordon Always had time for the fans and I am sure that will continue as he steps back from club affairs.
I remember especially Coventry away this season when he heard that a few of the London lot were guests of Ricoh. He made a special effort to come and see us and stayed for 30 mins chatting about the club and his aspirations.
Although I haven't necessarily agreed with everything he's implemented I don't think anyone can look back and see his chairmanship in anything other than a very positive way. What a refreshing change from the Doyle and Sean Lewis days.
Good luck old lad.

Favourite Memory of Shep Interview with Harry Gration after Liverpool match On the Monday after the game they were down at Oakwell after we had drawn Chelsea. Harry Gration started the interview with Gordon by saying "You've always wanted to be Chairman of a football Club" Shep interupts "No Harry, I've always wanted to be Chairman of THIS football club" (clap)
Good old Shep, many thanks what you have done for this club. We will always be in your debt. Good luck Gordon.
Its an impossible job But its been done well. Many thanks. I am thankfull my job is not so public and that so many other people think they could do my job better than I am doing (in my case it may be true) and that there are not so many others out there trying to make me fail so they can win
Thank you, Mr Shepherd You took the reins when the club was shitting money and in danger of falling back into administration. You must have pulled pretty damned hard on said reins to turn it completely around and transform us into a club, albeit with debts but making a profit to pay them, and able to live within its means. Not all decisions you have made have been ones I agreed with but it is fair to say that, with the club on the brink these were, bar none, tough decisions. You always acted in what you felt were the club's best interests and always with the courage of your convictions. I am very happy with the current state of affairs at Oakwell and applaud you wholeheartedly for your time and efforts to put us where we are. I cannot make the game on Saturday but I hope those who can sing your name loudly enough to raise the roof. You deserve it.
RE: I've taken a look and Jay is correct (apologies to Jay) I think that is a fair summary, although we don't know 2007 figures and also how 2008 is shaping up.
The accounts used for this excerise were the abbreviated accounts which are filed at companies house and are effectivly just the balance sheet. To calculate the loss I've just looked at the change in the profitand loss account yearon year.

RE: Dear Gordon... Chairman is often a thankless job but you've clearly earned the respect of the fans of Barnsley FC. I only hope that the new Chairman can maintain that balance of prudence and ambition, while working so well with Mr Cryne. You will long be remembered for your huge contribution to this club's future. Thankyou, and enjoy your 'retirement'. You've earned it! //Tim
A true gentleman and a tuly passionate fan of our club. You have worked wonders and with little gratitude from some quarters. You used your skills and talents to turn the club around in almost impossible circumstances and you achieved that objective. You leave us with the ability to move forward as a club and for that I cannot say 'thank you' enough. I have met you loads of times and you always have time for the Reds. Enjoy your retirement with your wife and continue to watch your beloved Reds together as I know you will do. Thank you.
