They'd never get Ronaldinho for £30 million.

    RE: Which would you prefer

Five hours trying to change his mind? Hmmmmm. Dubious. That's a long conversation.

The point is, they signed his replacement first thing in the morning - they also signed three other players - during the course of the day. They had time to do all that, and release press information parading them for us. McIndoe info? - two hours after the deadline, and by a text message of all things? Someone was taking the piss. You don't do that to the fans.

I like the fact that Shepherd is obviously a genuine fan himself and looking on the bright side, it is good that he wants to avoid having to dissapoint the fans. It doesn't do his credibility the world of good though, when there is clear evidence to contradict is version of events? Does anyone believe that Wolves phoned up first thing in the morning and that the matter unfolded as a shock to Shepherd during the course of that day? Please, at least pay me the respect of offering me something I can believe. Nobody is blaming Shepherd for the fact that McIndoe walked - he had it is his contract, and that is what he wanted to do. I accept that if the clause wasn't in the contract, we wouldn't have had McIndoe at all. This being the case, I can't see why Shepherd couldn't explain the matter at the time, in an up front manner without the dressing which not many people believe.

RE: I don't think people hate him...

Sorry, I thought he was assistant manager - another example of BFC misinformation then. He either is - which is a confusing appointment as we don't have a full time manager yet, or he isn't, and we don't know what he has been brought in to do. We've relied on Bury to tell us.

As for McIndoe - I can totally accept that he had to go, he wanted to, it came down to him at the end of the day. All we could ask is that the club made an announcement that McIndoe intended to leave, was entitled to do so contractually, and that every effort had been made to pursuade him to stay. The way it was delivered (via a brief text message) was extremely poor and soured what should have been a very exciting day.

RE: Ah so he isn't the assistant manager then, he is the managers assistant.

I'll try to explain it again for you. He was brought in to assist Simon Davey. He wasn't appointed to assist "The Manager". Therefore if Simon Davey is currently the caretaker manager, then he is assistant to the caretaker manager. If or when Simon Davey returns to being the Academy Manager, he will then be assistant to the Academy Manager.
My own feeling on the matter is that he was brought in to cover two possibilities.
    1) If Simon Davey returns to his position in the Academy, Ryan Kidd will be his assistant there.
    2) If Simon Davey is given the Managers job, Ryan Kidd will become the Academy Manager.

Gordon Shephard is a friend of my dads and as a dedicated Barnsley fan I think he makes a great chairman, and he's an excellent business man, all he's done all his life to make his money is buy failing businesses and turn them around. He's never failed and I think he'll do Barnsley a lot of good in the time he's with us. Barnsley's future is on the up! (Y)

    RE: Which would you prefer

Like you said SM some people only want to see the negatives or try and create negatives when they may not really exist!

McIndoe will be a sad loss as a player but there was no point in keeping someone who stated he didnt want to play again for the club.

RE: Which would you prefer.................A Chairman that tells us fans STRAIGHT away

    What is happening
And dosen't wait 24 HOURS to tell us what happened and then wait a further full WEEK to announce on the Official Website what has been happening at the club

News of events coupled with slagging matches on the radio over the last few weeks have not been handled at all well :( :( :(

You've clearly made your mind up

you can put whatever spin you like on a sequence of events, but I'm telling you for a fact that GS spent the majority of Thursday trying to persuade McIndoe to stay, that the initial offer from Wolves was derisory and that over the course of the day the inevitable happened but on terms much more tolerable to Barnsley FC. Not until all these terms have been agreed is it good practise to announce anything in public, and you can also argue that a text message is the most direct method of informing people (people who have paid money to be kept informed) something thats been slated on here previously. Cant comment on when the website was updated as I only go on there during working hours!

neither of players signed on loan the previous day or the same day we predetermined replacements for McIndoe, they were targets identified by Martin Wilkinson and had been intended to strengthen a squad including McIndoe.
