Pure coincidence you ended up at Oakwell then?

Do you plan to relaocate when a suitable venue is found ... or have you spent all your raffle ticket money building a stand on someone elses land?

    RE: Narr then.

So what you are saying is, that if this was you after all the hard work you have put into building up a team and status you would just finish it all like that?

Fair points about the re-location etc but you are basically saying that because the purpose has gone, despite been succesful they have to pack in!?!?!

So if the Glazers sell up Man Utd then do FC united have to pack in?

RE: Why is any club still playing?

I'm confused what are these scerets? and what is not right about it all?

becasue they are renting oakwell facilities?

    Right. Let me re-phrase it.

"What are the long-term prospects of AFC Barnsley?"

If the answer to that question is:

    1) "To become the biggest football club in Barnsley," then my assertion that they are a threat to Barnsley FC is a valid one.

    2) "To become a feeder club for Barnsley FC," then why aren't we told this? It would allay suspicious minds such as mine.

    3) "To plod along in the alehouse league," then, again, why are we not told this - to once again allay suspicious minds.

So, what have we established so far?

    1) Other clubs are still running "because they're based in the community."

    2) AFCB are an "angry," "secret" club.

    3) "There's something not right about it all."

You're right. Shut the ******** down.

    Not one bit.

I'm not saying they have to pack in.
I simply see no purpose for AFC.

Now if they had stayed in Cudworth & called themselves 'Cudworth Rangers' ... I would have wished them all the best in the world, sideways, on a stick.

    But no.
    They built a stand.
    At Oakwell.
    Where we already have some.

It's completely wrong, BFC shouldnt be making any money so AFCB shouldnt be using the facilities

    You forgot the stand.
    Built on BFC's land.

    That's all.

They don't sing 'free Nelson Mandela' anymore ... cos they released him.

no we intend to hold whist drives and race nights until we can raise enough money to buy our own 35000 all seater stadium. we went where we could find a pitch that fitted the cmfl requirments and we could afford the rental and were prepared to let us have it, you know facilities stood earning nowt...... derrrr

"To become the biggest football club in Barnsley"

    When did they say this?

    He he he.

    Sports club?
    Really?
    You honestly think so?

I'll trust you on that one.

    Yes - I believe you.

And when you turned up & said ''Can we put a stand just here'' - did you claim it was going to be inflatable or summat?

    They didn't, Wayne.

I was merely providing a list of (theoretical) examples as to AFC's purpose.

    RE: Not one bit.

But the fact that they have built at oakwell says to me that they can only go so far, never in a billion years would BFC allow them to stay if they ever got close to been the size of BFC!

I just think that if the BFC allows it then there must be some benefits!

Changing the name would not change the purpose would it? Because they were still set up for the same reason as before!?!?!

no we make money on it by renting it to the club for the ressies matchs cos it would be no earthly good having facilities sat idle would it ?

I very much doubt they'll want to be bigger then Barnsley, BFC will always be the bigger club

AFC Barnsley are just another non league local team like Worsborough ect

So you build a stand on BFC's land

And the club have to pay to use it for reserve games? Is that what you're saying? The club has to pay AFC Barnsley to use a stand on their land? For reserve games? Is that right?

    This is what they said:

    Aims of AFC Barnsley are as follows;

To offer a community based football club for the benefit of young footballers in and around the Barnsley area. (even though they don't have any youth teams)
To create and increase the profile of grass roots football and the positive impact that football can have in the community. (the community of Oakwell)
To increase the potential for promising young footballers to have a second or even third chance. (No problems with that - but it's already happening in other clubs)
To assist in the education and improvement of footballers in the modern era. (Eh? I'd love to know how thay can do that)
To create a wide range of sides offering more opportunities for regular football from Juniors to Adults, and to create a successful set of teams, both male and female in the long term. (By only having one team)
To run the club as a community based side benefiting the area as a whole. (I think you kind of said that already)
To positively attack the issues effecting young people in the Barnsley area by using football, education and sport as an evolving partnership. (Again - you've kind of said that already)
To run the club as a voluntary non profit organisation. (Who can afford to erect stands at will)
To positively promote the Barnsley area and the people, culture and history of the locality. (Which can obviously only be done from Oakwell)
To attract sponsorship and funding that benefits the club above any individual. (Why the hell would that be an objective? It wouldn't even cross peoples' minds)
To reach level three of the football pyramid within 5 years. (I hope the Pharoah dry bums you all)
