Goughie said on Talk Sport a couple of months ago that Football was his main sport. Cricket was just something else he was good at when it became clear he wasn't going to make it as a footballer. Has anyone had a go at Parkinson yet? He usually gets slagged off on here when ever we have a Cup run or a promotion.
With respect John, you're missing the point. a) he's never pretended to be a loyal fan or anything of that sort. b) He was a club/ county/ international cricketer who could not have ever been a regular at Oakwell for plenty of years due to cricket commitments. c) He's a man with a family (which I believe he is separated from), and presumably takes every chance he gets to spend with his kids. d) He lives and works down South, in a career which lends itself to corporate hospitality at any club. When you've tried juggling that lot, you may have a point.
No he got divorced, but I believe they re-united..he lives with his wife and kids.Gives us loads of mentions on talksport
you `re off on one tonite Fi : you like goughie? he`s a great lad - he needs to **** that ignoramus durham though.be nice if he made an appearence in dazzlers box so he can be haranged by both sets of fans
I don't care either way re Goughie .. like him as an England Cricketer who gave his all. Never met the bloke, so can't say much about him, but not keen on folks dragging other Barnsley folks down. Not sure what he's done wrong....??
He`s done nowt wrong at all - he`s an easy target - he`s always been spurs and barnsley but when push comes to shove i know where he`s at. Jealous come to mind in a lot of folk - all would swop places to have had the career he had and in deed what he has now even though I bet he`s been close to ****ing durham more than once.
Goughie's done nothing wrong in my opinion. I don't see the need to be negative about him or towards him - or towards anyone else for that matter! As a student in the 1970's in Liverpool, I went to Anfield (and Goodison) quite a few times and they were Champions etc, but I have always supported Barnsley. I wished Flicker well in person at Peterborough and again at Ipswich. COYR!!
I've been to all kinds of grounds - must have been to Goodison over a 100 times - doesn't feel the same though enjoyable as the atmosphere is
i was sat with a very close family member last night and we were on about this, he said exactly the same, barnsley was his 1st team then it was spurs, i think we were all the same as kids ( ok i'll put my hands up i'm originally from doneh so it was rovers and man utd, but most of my mates were rovers and leeds)
Couldn't give 2 flying f*cks whether Goughie supports REDS or anyone else. Decent bloke......he's from Tarn........and that's that.
i know that they're together but i dont know if they did get divorced, and he lives near the big m.k.
