I know it shouldn't, but this line did make me chuckle, Tory party all over.

Because they didnt learn from their first mistake. This is twice they've done the same u- turn. I mean, I've no sense of direction but I only ever need to do a u turn once!

It's almost like they're winging it! Raab today when asked if impact reports had been compiled for no deal said that was for the chancellor.......anyone would think the cabinet aren't working together. Or is it a case of not my fault guv honest!

Do you honestly believe that? Deep down in your ice cold Tory Soul, do you really, really think that the Government (who every single one of them voted shamefully against the proposal) deserve credit?

The treasury said quite categorically that they’d not been asked by the DoE

my guess is that the question was mooted within Education and they either decided they’d not get it through cabinet, or someone made a call to no 10 and was told no chance.

The whole point of Sunaks position is that he answers directly to no10. He was given the job on that basis.

My ice cold Tory soul?. WTF do you know about me? Who said I was a Tory - whatever that might mean. I have voted for different parties over the years and do not subscribe to any one ideology.

Whether it was the right course or not is a matter of opinion not fact. I would hate to think that decisions were being made on the principle of currying popular favour. Your analogy of wife beating is not applicable.

On a totally different subject, Dave, do you recall which poster mocked Stephen Croft when he had that massive heart attack at the ground? The poster claimed Stephen ought to have been dragged to the side of the pitch and allowed the game to proceed? He was rightly banned from here, but when he returned, he made the asinine & puerile claim he had 'only been joking'. I'm certain no one that ignorant would ever try to condescendingly lecture other posters how to think or act.
Now if I could only remember that poster's name.:)

The best thing to come out of this is the kids will be fed, the second best thing is that tory MPs followed their leader and voted against caring for vulnerable people, only to get the rug pulled from under them by the very same ‘leader’ when he came under pressure. They just might think twice about supporting him next time.
Populist government anybody? Decisions made to curry popular favour anybody?

If you supported the Tory move to deny these kids Free School Meals, then you're as Tory as they come, no matter who you "voted" for.

    Beyond contempt.

I’m not blinkered I’ve lived long enough and experienced enough to know what the Tory Party stands for .
And if you think my hatred of them is blinkered or whether it’s just a cheap shot then you are way way off the Mark my friend .
If popular opinion means Children getting a good meal inside them because they’re parents etc have been furloughed or whatever other reason and struggle to put a decent meal on the table then I’m all for it .
But the Goverment and the Tory party didn’t go for popular opinion nor common decency an humanity no they went for their usual fek em attitude and it’s rightfully spectacularly backfired
and the country won over avarice .

you posted last week that you’d let kids go hungry because their parents basically owned a mobile phone.

I’d suggest you might want to act on your own advice above.

Of course it's the right thing to do and should not have been voted down in the first place. But there is one thing i don't understand about our political system.

If the original decision had to be taken by a commons vote, why is the same not required to overturn it?
