So the actual Minister for Children voted against the meals, but has been over ruled by the unofficial one. What a shambles.
I wasn’t trying to understand what went through a Conservative MPs mind in reversing their decision (as you say - we can’t know) I was trying to understand what went through yours when you described how they deserve credit for changing their minds.
The vote was brought on a motion by the Labour Party, and because the PM is an arse, he didn’t realise that voting against would reflect badly. He didn’t realise that allowing some Tory MP’s to not just follow his lead but bare their black hearts would reflect badly on all the others. The decision is made in cabinet, and should have been made in cabinet originally, but back to my previous post, Gavin Williamson originally said it was unaffordable, but the treasury responded by saying no one had approached them for money. it’s depressing that a populist PM can’t even gauge the mood re feeding hungry kids.
