The ones earning 70 grand a year paying less tax than an employee on 20

    yeah, thems the fellas.

The ones "contracting" to the same company for 2 years plus.

The ones that put their weekly shop on expenses, all their fuel, claiming they live away from home when in fact they rent out their properties and pay **** all tax on the rent.

I've known quite a few in my time.

Their accountants are legally obliged to report any schemes they think may be illegal such as those. If they don't, the accountants themselves are committing a criminal offence.

I suspect that in these cases the accountants don't know anything about it at all. If they did, they would report it without hesitation.

    Not having a go Dave

But accountants of some of my contracting acquaintances appear to be complicit in their manipulations of the system.

"Limited Companies" with one employee and one employer clearly undertaking highly paid jobs for little more than the minimum wage then substantial a dividend.

I think the umbrella company scam was put to the sword but little seems to have changed.

I am sorry to hear about your friend's plight. However, that is a very specific example and if anything, provides us with further evidence that the current system needs a complete overhall. My wife is a GP and tells me first hand about the inadequecies of the current system in place, dealing day in day out with people on the take.

There are a lot of people taking advantage of a very weak system.

Conservatives won't care whether they hurt genuinely vulnerable people or those that are getting away with benefit fraud - they'll just slash the amount of benefit available to everyone and in all probability, they'll cause more harm to those that genuinely need help, than generate benefit to society at large. They won't give a **** though - they'll just publish a figure about how much money has been 'saved'.

I'm all for people who cheat the system getting found out - really I am - but I think we all know how the Conservatives will go about this exercise, and the fact that they won't bother to do the job properly.

    Good points mate

Why not organise them into squads to go round removing graffiti? This has the added benefit of making the Graffiti artists feel good because they are providing the unemployable with valued work.
