I'm sorry to hear that Whitey, I really hope you get something sorted out soon. I don't know you but you always sound like a good lad with a good head so I'm pretty sure you'll get something lined up pretty sharpish. Best of luck pal and if I do hear of anything I'll let you know.
Re: good luck in your quest for new emplyment mate How about the fact that she (along with Reagan) deregulated financial services thus creating the conditions leading to the current economic meltdown? I don't hate many people but she's definitely top of the list.
Re: good luck in your quest for new emplyment mate Blame her for a lot of things but she cant take the hit for the financial meltdown .... Nobody did more to escalate that crisis then Blair and particulary Brown .... I know the collective ethos on here is all things red good / all things blue bad .....but they had 11 years of world growth (never been known before) - and they messed it up big time .... too cosy with the Bankers .......... end boom and bust my arse To put this solely at Thatchers feet is laughable .... she started it - Brown took it to a whole new level .........
Re: good luck in your quest for new emplyment mate appologies whitey for my poor attempt at humour, feel for you mate, got made redundant after 15yrs at sr gents and it sucks at the time, but what i found out as you will undoubtedly do so is that if you want to work you will find work regardless of the countries outlook, good luck mate, hope it works out 4 you, and at a final attempt at humour, why not give oakwell a try, they need someone to spread the gospel that is BFC a dam sight better than they currently do
Re: good luck in your quest for new emplyment mate Good luck Whitey, get networking, it might pay dividends. On the Blame game, there has to be a degree of collective blame for all of us in the UK. They weren't too many protests while the UK fantasy bandwagon rolled on through the 90's and noughties. Falling manufacturing, increased consumption, house price increases, services, IT and Finance will solve all of our economic shortcomings etc. The party had to come to an end sometime. A lot of Thatcher's, Major's, Blair's & Brown's meddling was in privatising national institutions and encouraging private participation. This is fine but its just redistributing who gets the income tax and NI. Not enough emphasis on making things. Look at Germany, they can manufacture their way out of trouble. We just seem to offshore everything to save costs.
Happened to me early 90's Last time this shower were fcking the country. Luckily it enabled me to make a career change and get some qualifications. Look on it as an opportunity, after a decent period of swearing and being ****** off. Good luck.
how long have you been with this company, and are you in a union. if you are or have any sort of seniority by the years you have worked then they should also have taken that into account too. IF you are in a union I suggest you take it up with their legal branch to hit them for some kind of compensation/redundancy. If you get no joy or are not in a union there are quite a good many free legal firms out there who will take a look at your case in respect of an unfair dismissal claim. If you and any other colleagues do follow this path then do not feel afraid to tell your employer that you are in fact taking that course of action. Many will not go near a legal case and will offer out of court settlements. Finally I wish you all the best in getting new work as soon as possible.
Re: good luck in your quest for new emplyment mate Sorry Whitey - this wasn't supposed to become a plotical debate from you thread .... and Good Luck with it all But.......Fair points mate.... well made
Re: good luck in your quest for new emplyment mate I blame her for everything. Including our relegation from the Premership. And the Beatles splitting up. As someone far more learned than me said the other day - history will not be kind to Thatcher. Looking forward to the state funeral though.
Re: good luck in your quest for new emplyment mate Thanks again for kind words and advice. I do feel a tad guilty though, embarrassed even. Its only a job really. I only posted about it as I had said before that it may be happening. But the reaction on ere and twitter etc, and of course from friends and family, all helps to lift the spirits. New year new job. It would be easy to blame the government etc, but I blame the ***** who dropped out of college to work in factories in the first place
Nail on head whitey If you take that kind of clear thinking one step further you'll know that it's not too late for that ********* to go and get himself some qualifications or skills so that he can give himself options outside factory work.
