Fair enough, I'd always thought Celtic had progressively developed their ground rather than pretty much rebuilt it which is why I was surprised by the picture. Apparently they played at Hampden while the work was being done - thought I would have remembered that.

Match report from the last time Barnsley played at Celtic (in a "competitive" game anyway), apparently the 'Champions of the World' cup!

At a guess it would have been the mid 90's that they rebuilt parkhead,in the early part of the decade Celtic were proper on their arse,I'm sure they were towing to get 20 thousand to come and watch them and according to my Celtic loving workmate we had their pants down in the biggins/ Payton deal,he insists Wayne biggins is the worst player they have ever had.;)

Did we want to sell Biggins though or was it a case of him wanting to go? Can't remember the circumstances, it didn't seem to be long before he was back in England though.

To be honest mate I cant remember owt leading up to it,it just seem to happen,we certainly got the better player out of the deal, biggins was at the arse end of his career, whereas Payton was only in his late 20's and still had a good few years left in him.

Well yeah Payton turned out to be a good player for us, in hindsight we probably got shut of him a bit too soon as well, I'm sure he'd have scored more than Wilko!

I was devastated when we got rid of Payton but the proof was very much in the pudding as we went up that season. Payton was a brilliant player but apparently an absolute oddball who had a very negative effect on the dressing room. Only Brendan O'Connell would speak to him, nobody else wanted anything to do with him. Do you remember the tale a few years later when he was found hiding in a cupboard to Burnley to avoid arrest (for drink driving I think?). He was also reported to have huge gambling problems.

    93 94 I think.

Metalliform in Hoyland I understand had something to do with installing or making the seats.
