Isn't the figure totally irrelevant. Its about the market and whats available. If we could get £500k but there's no one decent around for £500k because we are so close to the start of the season / it will have an adverse effect on the team as a replacement will take time to settle then its not worth taking. However, if there are replacements around for the same money who are better or less money who are equal in ability then it makes sense to sell.

Personally I do think there are players out there who are better and available for less, but what do I know. Keith Hill is a good football manager and is proven to be so, therefore I trust his judgment. Perhaps he is now searching harder for a potential replacement knowing Palace may come in with a revised offer.

I am pleased with the club's approach on this one. We shouldn't be accepting offers for first teamers from rivals with hours to go until the start of the season if we have no replacements lined up. It does seem a bit mental that we are rejecting 500k for a player who blew very hot and cold last year. However, he is still very young and if he gets some more consistency to his game and knocks ten in this year, he will be worth more than 500k. Seems more mental that we have rejected the same amount of money for him that we accepted for Vaz Te, perhaps this is indicative of player power.
